What is serious is the undeclared payments. The AFC, Tippett's management and Tippett are wrong here and all in equal measure. They all knew full well that they were doing the wrong thing. Anyone walking down the street knows you can't organise extra payments without putting it in the contract. You can't tell me any of those organisations didn't see the contract or understand it. It's not as bad as Carlton's only in so much as the amounts aren't as great, so the penalty should be similar but less harsh. Given the Crows have no high draft picks to take, that's going to happen as a matter of course.
I'm going to wait until everything's come out before deciding who I think should lose their jobs. But regardless, this is also embarrassing for the AFL. The way this has happened under their noses and they had no idea just demonstrates they're as effective at policing the cap as ever.
On the bright side, at least we're in better shape than Port.
