Like I said, the media aim their comments at the lowest common denominator and people like you lap it up.

Rucci, Capel, Wilson et al would be thrilled to know anything that they write is seen as coming from the club itself.

Careful out there today pal, the sky is falling.

Correct, that's when idiots read the articles and went "So Port think they have their missing piece blah blah blah". You're still quoting media BS to this day, such is your ability to absorb the tripe in the fish wrap.

It was to show that the "missing piece" was a media beat up and not something the PAFC said was the case.

So booney before you go calling people fools tell me what you expected from the power this year?

What did I expect? I expected to challenge with our best side out on the park, but when Ryder and Monfries were banned for the year my expectations dropped, significantly. I stated we couldn't win it with out them. Throw in Lobbe's form, losing Schulz for the bulk of the year, Carlile for 7 weeks, Gray for 3, Wingard for 2, Hartlett for 2 and it's only round 8.....we're about where we should be. Beating teams below us, around the mark with teams around us and not up to challenging the top sides.

Take a deep breath guys...
Crows were above expectations early in 2016 but have come back to the field with some weak midfield and defence performances of late. Think we will still be in the 8-12 range.
Port are below expectations for 2016 but given the injuries and suspensions and lack of depth now exposed, not too far off the mark I wouldn't have thought. Again, think they will finish 8-12 range.
Arguing about who is going better is a wasted exercise.

Not arguing who is better, just trying to establish what the "huff and puff" is that Spargo noted.

Then, in the post script, pointing out how foolish Benny looks quoting media bollocks from 18 months ago. Like I needed to point that out.

Jesus boon has a sandy vagina lately.

You just said yourself that you didn't think they can challenge without Ryder.

Also who else are we supposed to do when we want to read about the afl. Not read the media?

Calling someone a fool because they think the media has more credibility than someone who sits in the outer is the height of arrogance.

Sandy vagina? No, just saying it as I see it.

Read the media, for sure, I do, but when a ridiculous statement is made by the media don't attribute it to the club, as you did with your "missing puzzle piece" crap.

Careful with the words of more than two syllables Boon, you've got to write to your intended audience.

Not attributing it to the club at all. But you have to wonder whether they overestimated their list when they sell off all of their good draft picks to bring in Ryder and Dixon.

You're as clueless as the rest of us until a time comes that we get them all on the park at once. Up until then, it's a guess with no backbone.

Round 8, mate.

Postby bennymacca » Mon May 16, 2016 11:15 am

So due to injuries and suspensions your list is now not good enough to beat Carlton?

Has to be more to it than that.

Reckon your midfield has all taken a step back and that's the real issue. How many of them can say they have even stayed the same as last year? Not too many.

Gray is about the only one that can hold his head high in that group.

Its an interesting looking ladder after 8 rounds.... FWIW I reckon the top 7 teams will remain there... which leaves 4 teams fighting over 1 spot. Adelaide, Melbourne, Port & Carlton.... so who gets that spot?
1961, 1971, 1976, 1978, 1983, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1991, 2008, 2013, 2014, 2015.... And don't you forget it!

Ryder, Monfries, Lobbe, Schulz, Gray and Carlile missing.

Two lead ruckman, full forward, full back, best on baller.

Carlton don't have the talent this year.

On form so far this year the crows look easily the best out of those teams you mentioned.

If Melbourne can start getting consistent they could easily make it. But I reckon they are 1 year away.

Port look in terrible form but being 4-4 and not playing well has to be cause for optimism, as it is a good base for them to launch from. Last year they came from too far back.

I agree with u boon, 5 of those 6 back in makes a totally different side.

Lobbe got dropped and Carlisle is average at best. Same with monfries. Good player but not a world beater.

Gray is obviously a big loss.

But I would be worried about the form of Wingard, Ebert, boak, Sam gray, Polec. There is enough takent there to smash teams like Carlton. But gray is in the twos and boak and Wingard got 23 touches between them.

Yes, you're right, but then you've got to put into context what impact their presence would have in the side, and if they're better than some others in the side - if the side is better with them available then clearly they're losses.

The loss of a genuine ruck showed yesterday I thought, Port were smashed in the centre.

There was a bit to like about Richmond the other night ... Too late for them to make a run at the last spot in the 8?
