I could be a mile off, I haven't looked into it, but my assumption is that it was meant to be indigenous round and instead the pre-game activities were taken over by some nod to the British empire, those b@stards who invaded us in the first place!

As I said, I could be wrong, but I suspect that's the line of thinking that has left some people upset.
AFLW didn’t have the minute silence because it was indigenous round

That makes a lot of sense.

I think they did for the first game, then people got upset along the lines of the above, so then they didn't do it for the rest of the games.

So now both 'sides' feel hard done by and no one is happy.

The women's league should be on weeknights when the men aren't on.
Footy on TV 7 nights a week.

I think long term the mens comp will be 7 days a week so potentially not a viable option.
(IE: I see the mens comp going to 20 teams, 19 rounds played every day of the week over 23 weeks with teams getting a game every 8.5 days on average).

Right now the girls filling the gap by commencing when the mens comp has the pre-finals bye and then playing through finals where there are fewer and fewer mens games on isn't the worst idea. Also helps cover the October gap before cricket season really kicks off.

Longer term if they grow to a full season then they will need to find a more natural spot in the calendar but for now I think it makes some sense.

Agree about the sport moving to 7 days eventually.

The numbers must stack up especially on Thursday Nights or else the AFL wouldn't be pushing that agenda so hard.

AFLW schedule at the moment I think is best for the comp, with limited competition for tv viewing and audience, however I've heard the AFL is also a little impatient and want to push for a full season running concurrently with the men ASAP.

I fear doing that would have a serious impact on AFLW.

That's worked well for cricket in particular the BBL. Not.

That would make me do the dishes. And the ironing and the washing and the vacuuming.

Given the AFL will use other competitions to experiment with

Could they have a 2 division competition.

Keeping in mind in GWS first season they lost 4 games by more than 100 including a 162 point flogging.

They lost another 3 by between 90-100 points as well.

Just saw the Showdown Plate they are playing for tomorrow night, has there ever been a more underwhelming trophy in football

Who are these smart people who come up with something so embarrassing
