From what I can gather a good number of these are filtering down into local levels of the game. At ump training tonight we have a meeting to run through those that affect us, and how the league wants them adjudicated

They were ravaged by injury last year and still won 13 games.

6-6-6 rule could lead to some interesting set-ups in the middle late in the game.

Could lead to teams trying to win the game not defend the lead.

Can the wings start defensive side of the centre square?

Winger would push around once ball bounced and a half forward push up to the wing.

I think they have to be level with the edge of the square

Geez a bit to be aware of. Talking it through is one thing, seeing it implemented is another. I better watch some JLT this weekend to see how they do it. The NFNL where I umpire is adopting pretty much everything except the 6-6-6 rule. The new extended protected zones, particularly at kick ins following a behind will confuse the grog squads around the country.

No, they need to start on the wing.

Also, when there's an infringement in the centre square at the ball up and a free kick is paid the players need to remain or return to the 6-6-6 formation until the kick is taken. Hasn't been happening in the JLT as players and umpires adjust but will happen in season proper.

So, ball bounced and the players get into motion, free kick in the ruck and we wait for everyone to return. Not a fan of that part but it does give the side with the ball massive space forward of centre.

i prefer the 4-4-2 set up, but that is soccer and only soccer should have set ups like that... Maybe we should bring in sticks like hockey and a hoop on the side of the ground which you get ten points if you get it in there... Certainly mix it up a bit...

They can start on the defensive point of the square though (where the boundary umpire's stand) and from there run straight into defensive 50 so unless there is a very quick and clean centre clearance there will be at least a plus 1 back there.

That is what I'm getting at the plus 1 will now be the winger can either go in D50 or play sweeper behind the centre bounce (which mostly happens in General play anyway)

Western Bulldogs Dale Morris has done his ACL

The Western Bulldogs can confirm that defender Dale Morris has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Morris hyperextended his left knee during Friday morning’s training session at VU Whitten Oval, with scans later confirming the ACL ligament injury.

It is a devastating blow for the Bulldogs’ veteran on the eve of the 2019 season, after he completed a full pre-season and played a key role in the Club’s two JLT Community Series matches.

The Club will determine the course of action for Morris’ rehabilitation in the coming days.

Morris partially tore the ACL in his opposite (right) knee just before the start of the 2018 season.
