I'm not disputing that it was a free kick, as to the letter of the law it was. But I just think that it was a bit soft in that part of the ground, at that point in the game.
I just think it's crap that a decision like that effectively decides the game.
You are kidding right? The one decision didn't cost the Crows the game. What cost them the game was Craig choking in the third and going defensive rather than backing the style of play that got them the five goal lead. People have to stop calling last minute decisions and saying that cost a team the game. Adelaide were up by 5 goals, they lost the game in the third, not the last. The Tippet decision was correct, the Anthony decision was correct.

So what now? Should the AFL put a limit on forward 50 free kicks in the last 2 minutes of a match? Or only when theres a kick in it?

Rutten stuffed up. He/Adelaide have to live with it.

Why oh why did Craig go defensive in the 2nd quarter when they had the Pies on toast? You can do that and still score against poor teams but not Top 4 teams....they just let collingwood build confidence by letting them get the hands on the ball and it slowly built from there, 49 mins without a goal from a team that was playing great attacking footy in the first 1/4 is a disgrace
Got to give that Umpire credit, it was a tough call that he could have let go but he was brave for calling it and it was the correct call...

The bloke had 3 kicks all night, couldn't get a contested pozzy to save himself and here's Rutten clinging to his arm like he's Nick Reiwoldt!!!
WTF was he thinking?

I agree ... the game was lost in the 2nd quarter, not the 3rd.
If the Crows made the most of their opportunities in the 2nd it was game over at half time.

No you went defensive in the 3rd when Collingwood got on top & started to win the clearances & hard ball gets.
The Crows thought Collingwood would lay down & concede after a very ordinary 1st half.
They forgot they were playing Collingwood not West Coast, Carlton or Essendon.![]()
