No need for Melbourne to do something stupid like that, when they have the No. 1 pick in the Pre-Season Draft...

The question though is, would Burgoyne nominate for the November draft because if he is he won't be around for Melbourne to take him in the PSD.

Am i right in saying that if you nominate for the PSD, you automatically are in the Nov draft too ? Isn't the PSD basically for players left over from the Nov draft ?

part extract from Adelaide Now a couple of weeks ago

Port – which held firm on not trading midfielder Nick Stevens to Collingwood in 2003 – says it will not let Burgoyne join Hawthorn without a "favourable" deal. This sets up the prospect of Burgoyne being blocked, as Sydney club champion Ryan O'Keefe was last year when he sought to join the Hawks but failed to get a trade.

"That will not happen," said Williams. "Shaun is prepared to enter the national or pre-season draft pool if he is not traded."

This would make Burgoyne the target of Melbourne coach Dean Bailey, a former Port assistant coach, who has the No. 1 draft pick.

I have heard from sources close to the Burgoyne family that he honestly does not care where he goes whether it be West Coast, Melbourne or even Adelaide he just wants out of Port.....Hawks is only his "preference".

With Essendon having picks 10 & 16 in the 1st round I reckon they will still play a part in this deal somehow.

REAL FOOTY

It is believed that Fevola, who is holidaying in south-east Queensland, has agreed to join the Lions, but the completion of the deal depends on persuading Victorians Bradshaw and Rischitelli to return to their home state.

Rex's supreme fishing skills are a massive get for 5AA, not to mention addition of the 'Fat Lady' element to the team on game day coverage. 5AA would be very happy with this deal.

The Crows really should be more active in trade week. The trade period is a real chance for clubs to get final pieces of the puzzle, a few rough edges to be rounded out, the Crows should be more aggressive. Another wasted oppertunity.

If Hawthorn DID actually offer Brown up to Port, then they are mad.

Burgoyne is NOT worth pick 9 + Brown.

FOOLISH HAWTHORN! Until I hear it from Clarkson's or Brown's mouth, I won't believe that was offered.
