It was also a song that the supporters chose to sing as an unofficial anthem unlike Ports version which has been very contrived and drummed into them by the clubs marketing department.

You might want to check your facts before shooting your mouth. The club only intended to play it for the first game, it was the supporters that asked for it to be played before every game. It was also a supporter that designed the scarf, which the club had a huge amount of interest from supporters asking for one to be made. So if anything it was the supporters drumming it into the club.

I agree but it is not just an AFC thing as some would have you believe both Collingwood and western bulldogs have something similar at home games.

Like I said contrived!

The only time you will hear the crowd sing it is when played over the loud speakers by the marketing department, unlike at Anfield where you will hear the supporters singing the song at various times even without the song pumping out a stereo

It's great Port have embraced it and it does at to the atmosphere, though it just proves to me australian sport is heading down the American path of supporting where nothing is spontaneous and the atmosphere is very fake and prompted with stuff like crowd o meters, 19th men etc etc

The reason why the crowd sing it at various times at anfield is because the game they are watching is so boring they have nothing else to do.

Yep completely different set of skills with both being extremly good athletes in their own respective way.

Like trying to compare test match cricket to t20 cricket

Thoughts? It could have been done a lot better, but then again we could be stuck with the "murder of crows" we had last season.

Not really. In Test matches and T20 both teams score.... ;)

The game can be that dull that even the WSW fans turn their back on the game, hold each other and jump up and down for some excitement. Then when something does actually happen they feel the need to strip their tops off to celebrate. Strange game, strange crowds.

Its a better design then the last one, although they could always go with this simple design. But simple and logical are not strong suits of Nigel Smart.

Pinched from Bigfooty- but a 10 x better jumper IMO, using the new design:

What is it with the recent trend when clubs show off a new guernsey that the players fold their arms across their chest so you can't even see the guernsey?

I think you'll find Nigel is a highly intelligent man, that's why he might come across a bit 'quirky' at times...
