His feelings were hurt though

Pretty sure if I love tapped your solar plexus, liver, or kidneys from behind you'd want retribution... when you recovered.

That's why they've stamped down on it.
Love tap or strike....doesn't matter.

Back in the day I'd get shirt fronted with a solid hip and shoulder for striking you by one of your team mates.
Can't do that now for fear of a massive suspension and hammered in the media.

Games changed. Strike anywhere...love tap, open hand, whatever its automatic suspension in my book.

Games changed for the worse IMO

I kinda agree with you at some level.
If you whacked someone back in the day you had to expect that someone would get you....eventually.
That was a bit of a deterrent in itself.
We've all had that team mate that you walked taller around.

Afl was frightened parents would send their lads to play soccer so they've softened the game we all know that.

Players kept an eye out for it more in those days too though so an incident like the other nights wouldn't have even registered

I was taught....wait till he's over the ball then run through him...the good ol hip and shoulder.
Or in a marking contest accidentally miss the ball....ala kernas on wildy in the 85 gf.
The perfect square up if anyone remembers.
Collins couldn't do that.

Hilariously gives David Schwarz a whack

“Because I guarantee you a few players out there making comment, mainly David Schwarz, I played a Grand Final (in 2000) against that bloke and within 20 minutes of the game he was crying, so (he should) have a look at himself at some stage.”

In an age where we're telling blokes it's ok to not be ok it's a bit off.

David Schwarz witnessed his Dad and partner being murdered as a child, went through 3 knee reconstructions, overcame a gambling addiction, but he's soft cause he cried after losing a GF.

I reckon Hardwick bit off too much.

Cam McCarthy and Fremantle have parted ways effective immediately after he wasn’t offered a contract by them for next year

The guy clearly had a bit going on. Hopefully he gets the help needs.

He wants to continue playing next year but pretty clear that Fremantle didn’t have plans for him with a potentially cap decrease and list cut.
Wouldn’t be surprised if he found his way to another club

Not really disagreeing with you as I reckon the hype is overblown, as was Hardwick's ridiculous defence. I just really loathe the player. I didn't enjoy the unsociable Hawks era as they played chip chip woodchip and belted blokes with 'not enough force' for years, they were the masters at it. Fancy enjoying Clarko's bullshit. Now Hawks of the 80's that was enjoyable. Three times as many champion players for a start.

His only hope would be if West Coast took him in, that would be for a packet of skittles and a Pepsi Max each week now though, a shame as he was hot property not so long ago.

No one from any other state would touch him after the fuss he made trying to get back to WA, he was on a good thing at GWS.
