So the email was between John Reid and Kurt tippett ?????

I think every crows player with these extra clauses should be banned.

Check dangers and Tex last two contracts afl. I think they will make interesting reading.[/quote]

Walker and Dangerfields last contracts would be no where near what they would be getting on the current deal, both had standout seasons on the last year of the current one which would have made the next better. If anything they would have been given less to try and keep Tippett.

the email was between Reid and Tippetts manager, who acts on Tippetts behalf, anything that he does and Tippett signs he is a party to. If the AFL are deeming the email as a part of the contract because it was in writing then Tippetts manager would have to have accepted this part of the deal for it to become a contract(I think that is how a contract works anyway?). If you are seriously saying that Tippett says to his manager, you do all the deals, I dont need to know what they are about? Tippett would have known all along what the deal was and that it was outside of the rules and he agreed to it.

If he gets de-registered and made to enter the draft does this mean he has to go to whoever picks him up and he cant nominate his price?

When south Adelaide/ storm got busted doing the same thing . Remind me how many players were suspended again ???

I wonder if dangers/tex received an "off contract bonus" for staying .it certainly can't be ruled out.

I think it is sounding more and more like the Crows are in a fair amount of trouble.

I'm oblivious to all the details in Perth but has the alleged 6 figure parting gift for him to stay in SA changed hands yet? If the AFL jump in now can they stop it as its not an AFL contract? Is there a possibility the crows made this clear to the AFL in spite knowing technically if the cash hasn't been paid then on a technicality they have done nothing wrong......YET....

While they are at it, can the AFL investigation team look for some silverware that rightfully belongs to St Kilda and North Melbourne. 8)

The premiership cups in 97 and 98 have gone missing in case the AFL finds more information. They fed them to Darren Jarman to keep them in a safe place ;)

I would love for it all to come out and the Crows are in the clear but I cant see it happening. If they have done all that has been stated then the AFL need to punish them accordingly. I dont want to see Tippett de-registered, I just dont want him to get off without any sanction, to be honest not even really sure what would be considered a fair penalty to an individual, dont think there has been anything similar in the past that I can remember?

Hearing the Crows punishment is going to be MASSIVE, apparently the AFL are worried about a similar situation to the NRL where a teams goes on to win the premiership a few years after serious and deliberate salary cap breaches.

The Crows will be punished very harshly.

What's the difference between Lance Armstrong and the Adelaide Crows?

Armstrong f*kd a Crow. The Crows f*kd themselves.

I know nothing about the workings of an AFL club or the corporate world but when did saying something in an email become a “contract”? If that’s the case I’m getting a crack team of lawyers together and going after all the Nigerian/African princes that have emailed me offering me money. As for the draft tampering as far as I can see the AFC did not and now cannot trade Kurt Tippett to another club for any pick. He is in now off to the draft and the AFC get nothing for him so how can they be guilty draft tampering if they have gained nothing? If I email the ATO and tell them I’m not going to pay my taxes this year but when my tax bill comes I pay it in full am I guilty of tax evasion?

I’m not saying the AFC are completely innocent and have done nothing wrong they have been bloody stupid but surely the punishment shouldn’t be as harsh as what other clubs have got in the past. A nice big fine and maybe losing the first round pick in this year’s draft would be more than enough.

I also have to laugh at the media claiming the AFL raided the AFC offices today. I’m not sure how often a raid happens when they are invited by the people being raided and welcome them at the front door.

I think if the off contract deals & 3rd party deals are proven then we deserve our punishment & should take it on the chin. We will have to work harder at improving the current list of players The list is fairly young so i feel any trade restrictions may not hurt as much as it hurt Carlton.Any fine will be a short term pain. However I think Kurt Tippett's future is a real issue for him as his value will plummet should he be deregisterd or banned for a period of time, If it hasn't already.
I also think the AFL may need to do surprise audits on all Clubs . I suspect this will become regular, any time any where this includes player managers. They would need to go back a min of 5-7 years. I reckon there would be many suspect deals done of the last few years.

If they lose draft picks, crows are likely to recruit vfl, sanfl and wafl players.

I don't think it will be just draft picks or this year involved in the punishment

If what's come out is correct I think for the next few years the crows will only have minimal picks and what they will have will be high numbers and then throw in some kind of trade week ban

I can see an example being made of here
