Of course it did. How many games did Milburn and Mooney play last season? How many young players were regularly getting games? Perhaps you didn't notice as you weren't told it was happening by the media.

Two olds blokes missing with injury doesn't constitute a "rebuild".

They played plenty of Magoos footy last season and we saw the development of Christensen, Duncan, Menzel, West, Vardy and Cowan and some real progress made by guys like Hawkins and Varcoe who had been around a bit longer. Other senior blokes who treaded water a bit were Byrnes and Hogan (who had some documented health issues) In Wells we trust. We won't be doing an Essendon or Brisbane with our list.

10 young blokes as apposed to 3 last year and players down on form = saturday result..... Jeez sides cant have a bad game these days without it being 'an end of an era' 'rebuilding' , any team bar the bottom 4 are capable of putting some good footy together. Adelaide have shown that get your confidence up any result is possible. Geelong will play finals and I for one wouldnt wanna come up against them in a do or die final

It's not 'just a bad game'. Our discipline this season has been atrocious and we are losing the contested footy every week. Cripes we even lost the contested footy against Melbourne how embarassing is that. We would need everything to go right for us to make a dent this year and so far there are a heap of interstate teams in the top half of the ladder. Opposition midfielders are having a picnic against us as we really miss Lingy...Boomer, Scotty Thompson, Mitchell just to name a few. Watch Swan, Pendlebury, Sidebottom or all of them get plenty of footy this week.

Out of our seven matches this year we've had quite a few bad games, last Saturday is not a once off.

Having said all that Adelaide are looking bloody good at the moment and all credit to them.

Amazing how many of you think a rebuild is a one year process. It started last year. Mooney's 'mentoring' role in the Magoos is proof of this.

I didn't mention it no but I think it's pretty obvious that a rebuild can't be done in a single season. Name one club that has done it. We had to start turning our list over a bit last year or the curtain would come down as quickly for us as it did for Essendon in particular.

I believe the Swans have a done a very similar thing over the past couple of seasons and West Coast did it as well. A gradual rebuild is much better than hanging on to the old stagers like the Aussie cricket team and then crashing down the ladder.

You're mistaking rebuilding for list management.

Yep, bringing in two or three blokes who have had previous experience to replace two broken down old fella's is not a rebuild.

If using an analogy of a house, rebuilding is knocking it down and starting again (like say the Brisbane Lions post 2004). I would say that Geelong are trying to renovate more so than rebuild. 8)
