15 times or 16 times? Great. Now I'm confused.

16 all up. 15 as played plus the first shield which was awarded - not decided by a match called "the GF"

Not quite true.
We have 16 premierships but have won only 14 grand finals.
1897 and 1924 we won by finishing top of a round robin finals series

Massive can of worms. Ive always believed the VFL was renamed, everything else remained the same. The AFL wasnt formed just rebadged. But thats probably a debate for another thread

What ever argument means that the Port Adelaide Football Club has ONE premiership (for their ONE club ;) ) is the one I'm backing...

How do you come to the conclusion that you are the "most traditional"?

Surely Melbourne is the most traditional club. As for most successful the twentieth century is over and the most successful is a crown that will change hands as time goes by. Statistically aren't Carlton and Collingwood more successful? Carlton has equalled Essendon's flag tally and Collingwood has the win loss record. If the Pies win two more before Carlton and Essendon win another then that makes Collingwood the most successful team.

Dont agree with you there REB, for me success is measures by premierships, win/loss means squat. Over the last 4 seasons the Saints probably have a win/loss record equal to anyone and far superior to the hawks yet I would say the hawks have been more successful over that 4 year period. Carlton and Essendon are the most successful but id think the pies will equal and then move ahead of both of us within the next few years.

Swings and roundabouts, Jim. Collingwood need to capitalise on this year and the next couple, before the dominance of GCS and GWS.

Yeah your premiership window is wide open, reckon GC and GWS will take about 4-5 years to kick in so you guys need to cash in with a few now.

No research required mate, as a suporter and member for close to 30 years its quite common knowledge. By the way i have done quite a bit of study on the history of our club as i find it interesting. Was merely pointing out some info to a fellow poster who may not have been aware of this

Don't think the bombers will be winning one in awhile. They are getting hammered again. The bubble has well and truly burst

What bubble, i think the media got well ahead of themselves. They all tipped saints and dogs to be top 4 and when we hammered them early it gave them false hope. Now we have seen how crap both of them are it wasnt that special beating them. Said last week we would only win another 2 or 3 for year, might change that to 1 or 2 :D

I think all you Essendon supporters got way ahead of yourself including your coach.
You Jim05 & your mates crucified Matthew Knights coaching methods, well look at the current coach, negative from the start playing an extra man in defence & that players done nothing right up to half time, any good coach would of noticed that wasn't working before half time & made a change.
I've never seen a side make so many basic-fundamental-unforced errors by hand & foot & you've got a coaching panel earning double to 4 times as much any other team in the competition.
Looks like Hird can't handle the pressure. Well Jim05 do you believe in KARMA like i do?
Its coming right back at yah. =))
