English Rugby League have a cracker of a system with a super 8s set up before finals

so if im reading it correctly they have two divisions of 12 that then get split into 3 divisions of 8 for the last part of the season?

it sounds really cool to be honest

I think the AFL could really benefit from something like that.

You would lose out a little bit commercially by not being able to play two showdowns every year for instance, but the last part of the season would be really amplified.

would also be a great chance for the smaller clubs to be able to play on the bigger stage, i.e the bulldogs this year might get some friday night games in that period.

for the afl you could potentially do this with two 9 club divisions too, making a 25 game regular season.

As there would then be 8 games each, it would alleviate the home-away scenario mentioned by LM.

You could then have some sort of minor premiership for the bottom 9 clubs too if you wanted.
