Dimwitiou set the precedent with Liam Jurrah very scary when this bloke gets involved. Surely his tenure is very tainted and near its end.

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

What did Demetriou do? How did he get involved? The St Kilda board decided Milne shouldn't play.

Melbourne will win this week! New coach at the helm and an unsettling week for the Saints. What are the Dees paying?? Get on!!

Nah I reckon it will work more in the Saint's favour. These sorts of scenarios tend to galvanise the affected club. You'll do your dough backing Melbourne :x .

Publically spoke that Jurrah should be playing, innocent until proven guilty.

The STK football club should be charged with doing the same thing to their
supporters for 140 years.
If one person does it, it's insanity. If millions do it, it's religion.

I don't agree with the policy of punishing players with suspensions while legal action is underway. If it's an issue where the player admits guilt and the legal process is about punishment then that's different. But here we have a guy denying the events happened. I don't think he should play this week, but that's more due to nobody knowing what state of mind he'll be in to deal with everything.

On another issue, I wonder what financial penalty he will incur. This incident is alleged to have occurred in 2004. The paper today said it might be 2 years before the whole thing is wound up. The income he had from 2006 to 2 years time will no doubt dwarf the income he'd have had in the years following his career which is clearly in the waning years. If found guilty, I just wonder how the courts will avoid him benefiting from the lengthy delay.

There is no policy of suspending players who have legal action underway. Maybe read more than the headlines.

Hypothetical question....

Would your employer suspend you from work if you were to appear in court on rape charges??

I am thinking people would be suspended or told to take leave from work so there is no distractions at work especially in a workplace with female workers

State MP Bernard Finnigan was suspended and still is pending his court case outcomes.

At my work place you most certainly do get stood down / suspended for a variety of criminal charges until the legal process has fully run it's cours then the employer either re-instates or dismisses them. Quite simple really!

In my current position, probably not. In fact, there is a high possibility they wouldn't even know about it if I/or a person in an "average job" didnt want them too. ( Please be clear, I am not part of any investigation )

If I was in a position that was open to public scrutiny, it impacted on others in my work place, impacted upon sponsorship agreements etc etc. then I would pretty much expect to be stood down.

Normally in my line of work it wouldnt matter much and they wouldnt even know about it. But the situation I'm in now, ie the fly in fly out makes it hard when I need a court date and well I'm needed to be let say out when really I need to be back in the city. Would have to fess up an probably explain it so that I could be at the court date. Although I guess you could always make up some flop and see what happens.

Still unless your a public figure and this is going to be known to the public or in the public arena and could cause issues with say sponsorship then really I dont think an employer will take action.
