The little sh!t deserved it. You wouldnt have seen upstarts like him carrying on 20 years ago for fear of getting what he got.
Bring back David Rhys-Jones.

If Scarlett was simply reacting to bit of lip then poor form.

If Chapman told him what that dirty little sniper did to him and it was retaliation then good on him for standing up for his team mate.

Ballantyne should have gotten 5-6 weeks for that cheap shot in the plums. Imagine the damage he could have done?

Rhys-Jones took a few also. Would love it too go back to the way it was. Plenty of snipers playing.

We don't need snipers in the game. We need rough players like selwoods, j. Brown and so on.

True, I am just going by hearsay. But from the footage he looked like he aimed low, and based on Chapman reaction, I think he did.

Didn't say i meant Joel Selwood, i said the Selwoods ;)

But yeah he got 4 on appeal once he was unsuccessful in challenging his suspension.

Still don't think Joel Selwood deserved that suspension at all. And one report makes him a sniper does it?

Anyone who truly wants "snipers" in the game has it wrong, we dont need them.

What we do need is the governing body to embrace physical contact, encourage players to go for the ball and be rewarded for doing so.

Just watched both incidents. Ballentynes hit on Chapman wasnt that bad. Chappy shouldve been looking where he was going. Scarletts punch looked like it got Ballentyne right on the button. You see Ballentynes legs just give way. Great footy :D

Watching both incidents I would class Ballantynes hit more of a "snipers" act then Scarletts. Chapman was running up the middle of the ground, Ballantyne looks, lines him up, then drops the shoulder and raises the elbow. At least Scarletts was face to face.

We all love the biff, and to get a bit of that the game needs nigglers, so that makes both Scarlett and Ballantyne good value in my book.

Anyone giving lip in someones face should be allowed to be whacked without penalty... all those pricks that get in players faces when they miss a shot for goal - get put on their arse!

BINGO!
I have read all comments so far and this one sums it up perfectly.
I watched the game again today, and the one thing that intruiged me was the handshake between Stevie J & Ballintine. Stevie said something to him & poked him in the chest & small man pushed him slightly after.

This little sh1t would not have lasted 10 minutes of footy when I played, and I am small but played the ball.

McDonald got 2 eeks for a fair hip and shoulder. Small, nay Little man gets 2 for a snipe.

Go figure.
