Media beat up. I know Bernie has done some stupid off field things in the past but he knew 8 weeks ago that he could not finish the season off.

No where did it say that the cricket field was off limits for the entire off season

They Certainly struggle to even get it in the basket these days. Lowest scoring average since the league began I believe

.

off topic i know, but that stat would probably have a fair bit to do with the 10 min. quarters. 8 less minutes a game than they used to play.

play on........

Football IS NOT a game anymore. The AFL is a business with football on the side.

With all the money that the games stakeholder ala (t.v rights, sponsors, members, fans) etc etc pump into the game, the clubs owe it to these people to make sure the best players are on the park every single week.

A general rule of thumb is the more you earn the more you have to sacrifise. If these players wanted to get paid into the millions then they are going to have to give up big parts of their lifes.

AFL footballers are robots!

That dunk is hardly even a stretch for an athlete that's 200cm+
It's not like he's pushing himself.

About as risky as being in the backyard and rolling his arm over.

One of the fittest guys I know 'rolled his arm over' in the nets with us one day and tore a bicep! Luckily most of the blokes I've played Cricket with have biceps that are well protected by generous skinfolds. ;)

Anything can happen once you leave the ground and NickNat is a massive asset for the Eagles.

Boti Nagy in todays 'Around The NBL' column:

WHY do I love Kevin Sheedy?

Because on Eddie McGuire Tonight, he was smart enough to say footy folk are getting a little too precious these days.

Yes, he was referring to the unmitigated nonsense generated by AFL smarties scolding Nic Naitanui for his halftime dunk at the recent Perth Wildcats-NZ Breakers game.

At last, someone who still believes people - even outstanding young sports people - should still be allowed to be themselves.

Before leaving this topic though, did notice some footage before the Crows-Magpies NAB Cup match of Collingwood star (and former basketball prodigy) Scott Pendlebury heading a Sherrin football in soccer style!

Oh my God. Was Nathan Buckley aware Penders was out there risking a neck or forehead injury?

He could have had an eye out!

Stop the presses.

Yeah.

... Ludicrous.

Totally agree, although hardly a basketball fan his articles and pieces in The 'Tiser are so lighthearted and easy to read. Only if half the AFL correspondents were as "readable"...

I remember a mate telling me that he was once asked to go and do high-jumping in the states at a college, his reply was, I'd rather sit on people's heads! Classic Nic-Nat 8)
