Gunston will be a loss to the AFC, yet I think its a start of a process that the AFC need to go through to rebuild this list.

If the lad wants to return to Melbourne then don't stand in his way is my suggestion, he will be quickly taken by a Vic club and we will get a good player in return.

It would be great in a perfect world to have the bulk of the players in the AFC drafted from interstate, yet the reality is much different, there is little point drafting lads that don't want to commit long term to SA. We would be far better served to trade Gunston for a good draft pick or an SA player. If the AFC is to be successful then one plank of the ladder is to increase the number of home grown lads in the side. The sooner the management wake up and accept it the better off the club will be.

Chris Knights for Brent Prismall (finds the ball well, runs well. Knights wants to go mise well get something for him)
Maric for Rance (fill the hole Davis and Bock have left strong defender, makes silly disposal errors but will make key defender)
Jack Gunston to GWS (see what you can get they would be after a Forward player with a bit of experience)
Tippett to GC for 1st round pick (#4) would snap Chad Wingard up with that pick
Armstrong and Martin for Bird (Syd) tough player with experience

Jack Gunston to GWS (see what you can get they would be after a Forward player with a bit of experience) Is homesick so would only be interested in a trade if it was too a Vic club

If the player is contracted and not wanted at the club "Adelaide" cant they trade this player whereever wanted for the if the other club involved wants to take over there contact (example. 2 years $275,000 a year)

If not i would try and get Gunston involved in a 3 way trade and try and get something strong from either GWS or GC as Adelaide is about 2-3 Sessions ahead of where they are at the moment and really need 2-3 strong 19-21 year olds to stand up like Sloane has.

Fair description on Rance IMHO .. Good in the one on one contests both aerially and at ground level, and attacks from the back, I quite like the look of him.

Understand the buzz surrounding Tahlia, and IMHO it is justified, but:

1. He is still to commit to the Crows for another term
2. You need more than one young rising key defender (hopefully Thompson continues his development nicely in 2012)
3. Rutten aint getting any younger or quicker and an injury to him really exposes the already thin back half.

If you believe the word around the traps, the Tigers are desperate for a ruckman so I would make the inquiry on Rance .. Maybe Knights could go parcelled up with Maric?

Don't think there's any way in Hades the Bulldogs would consider that mate ... An A-lister for two B Graders (or worse) isn't a strategy the clubs will go for.

I know its a pipe dream but the Bulldogs have no ruckman now that Hudson has retired and now full foward now that Hall has retired. These two fill both of those holes.

The whisper out of melborne is that North Melbourne will offer Ryan Bastinac, Carlton Jordan Russell and bulldog Josh Hill for a swap with Jack Gunston.

Bastinac
Russell
Hill

In that order. Hill is garbage, wouldn't touch him.

I understand that us as Adelaide supporters will want the best deal possible for Jack Gunston. But, we need to be realistic.

Why would North Melbourne offer up Ryan Bastinac? Was taken with a relatively high draft pick 2 years ago (early second round IIRC) and despite a few injury concerns this year has had a pretty solid introduction to AFL football. I understand it's only rumour, but I find this one hard to believe.

Jordan Russell finished runner up in Carlton's Best and Fairest only last year. Sure, he has had an up and down year this year, but I don't think Carlton would be ready to kick him to the curb just yet. Unless Jordan has indicated that he wants to come home, I too find this one hard to believe. Also think Carlton would require Gunston + a draft pick to get this deal over the line.

The Josh Hill trades seems the most likely of the three, but would the Crows really be interested? Can be dynamite on his day, but far too inconsistent for mine. The Crows to lose out on this deal if it were to happen. I believe we would be better off chasing a South Aussie lad who has been in the system for a few years. Maybe someone along the lines of Will Minson who seems to be out of favour at the Dogs. Could be handy with the pending loss of Maric and could pinch hit both in the ruck and up forward.

Russell' spot has been taken by Yarran and they have a few players ahead of him in defensive postions. Posability seeing as they need a tallish FWD option.

Hill, like you said inconsistant but could provide us with some X factor and a new environment could help. Minson isnt required, only as backup for Sauce if he goes down.

Bastinac is an interesting rumour, but I would see Levi as a more realistic trade option for Gunston. Would they consider Lindsay Thomas for Jack? I wouldnt mind him around Tipp and Tex feet

Honestly, I don't think North Melbourne would part with either Bastinac or Greenwood. They both seem to be very highly rated down that way. As for Lindsay Thomas, I think North would jump at that trade if that's what we requested. But in saying that, if we could turn his goal kicking around, he would be very handy front and square to Tippet and Walker.

Why dont the crows go an target a gun young South Aussie and throw the kitchen sink at him and give them gunston in return etc.

It seems they are only interested in getting players through the draft.
Its about time they landed a big fish.

when was the last D Jarman?..

I guess W. Carey was their last [ill-judged] shot at it.
