*Edit - Should read whole thread, but anyway pull your head in... ;)

Only an opinion, but can you honestly see the Crows being a premiership threat in the next 5-6 years?
Reckon with your list you are in for a bit of pain and may take 3 years to get back to finals. I think with all their hand outs, GC will make finals in 2013. Kurt may have timed it perfectly, sit back next year and watch Ablett, Bock and co improving and then wait and see who else they recruit before deciding if he stays or goes. His arrival and a few others in 2013 might be just the edge to get them to finals

Bottom 3 in 2005 were Hawthorn (less wins than Adelaide has this year), Collingwood (after being grand finalists 2 years earlier) and Carlton. Only took Hawthorn 3 years to win a flag and no more needs to be said about Collingwood.

Adelaide were a premiership threat in 2005 and 2006 after a shocking 2004 and change of coach mid season, just saying anything is possible.

True, just think its going to take longer now with the GC and GWS sides entering. Instead of turning it around in 1-2 years i think it may take 3-4 years. Wrong time to be near the bottom IMO

Ditto this. Tippett is so, so one dimensional.

Don't get me wrong, I'd certainly like to keep Tippo, but if we lose him no big deal.

He can play ruck and up front. One dimensional? Stick to the Watto love and personal insults. Jason Dunstall couldn't kick goals with the delivery Tippett got this season.

Amazing how people's attitude changes about a player when he is rumored to be leaving. Isn't one club in the AFL that wouldn't grab Tippett in a flash.

Jason Dunstall would have kicked goals with a monkey on his back. Oh hang on he did, for 15 years with different rules allowing defenders to be all over him. Tippett has underperformed this year without a doubt. I'd still have him over Walker anyday of the week though.

Yeah but look at the delivery he got. Monkey or no Monkey Dunstall's method was the lead and a pass hitting him on the chest. The Crows current midfield kicks it over the forward's head hence my comment. Not denigrating Duntall, but the delivery that Tippett gets.

Tippett has underperformed this much is true but when the worst midfield in the AFL sits the ball on your head while you are being triple teamed because the Professor has left Tex to play for the Redlegs makes it a tough gig to fight back.

I'm a massive fan of Jason Dunstall, a wonderful player. There were three champion forwards in that era, and each demanded the ball differently. They would present, and Ablett wanted it around shoulder height, Lockett liked it chest high, and Dunstall liked the ball between the waist and the knees so he could slide into the mark.

Yes, he had some wonderful delivery, but the uncomplicated way the game was played back then created it. The Hawks played a highly effective scissor game. They would bring the ball from FB out to the HB flank, then middleing back to cenre, out to HF, etc. If the ball was at CHB, Dunstall knew it would end up at CHF, so he knew where to lead.

If players such as Platten, Allan, Jarman, etc , had the ball, Dunstall knew they would look for him, just as those players knew exactly where Dunstall would be leading. The game plan was so simple it was laughable, but done well, it was ever so effective.

I would hate playing FF these days, you are simply not allowed to play the role the way it was meant to be played. How can you lead when you have no idea where and when the ball would present itself?

Against St.Kilda, I saw Tippett try to beat no less than SEVEN Saints players on more than one occasion, and the kick didn't go anywhere near him. I rate Tippett, but today's game makes it very difficult for him to play FF. I think he's better suited to CHF where he has more space to move and can bring players into the game. Walker at FF, Tippett at CHF .. that's a good start. Now all they need to do is invent ways to get the ball into their hands.

Also not too many ways you can clean up the blokes filling the holes in front of you without a 4 week holiday either.

Sorry REB, you've lost me there.

All I see in this thread are people taking pleasure picking over a dead carcass.

I'll repeat what I said first up. Tippett is no more or less likely to leave than any other player on the list.

IMO Caro's just gone for easy filler - ie speculate on an Adelaide player going home.

If these journo's were really in the know they would've spotted the Davis deal a mile away, but they didn't. They were too busy fabricating the easy 'go home' story to spot it weren't they? I mean - Walker to GWS because he's from NSW?? He's from Broken Hill and is a lifetime Adelaide fan FFS.

Sorry, but I'll believe it when the press conference is called.
