I think Fremantle can win both of their interstate trips and push Essendon out of the Top 8.
St Kilda should finish 6th, with Sydney in 7th.

Too many injuries. I reckon Essendon are safe. Freo absolutely shite in the clearances and they'll always die in the arse towards the end of matches. Seriously run out of puff.

Race for the 8

Postby the joker » Tue Aug 09, 2011 12:19 pm

The eight will be
Collingwood
Geelong
Hawthorn
West coast
Carlton
St kilda
Sydney
Essendon

Some great games there
Collingwood vs west coast
Geelong vs hawthorn
Carlton vs essendon
St kilda vs sydney
There will be only one final outside melbourne. As much as I think that collingwood will beat west coast if cox and Kerr put on a show and cause a massive upset in that first final, west coast will be certainties to make the GF. Because no one will be them in Perth

Going on your final 8 Joker, if there is no upsets in the first week of finals who would have to go to Perth, Carlton or Saints?

Why would West Coast be a certainty for the GF Joker? They'd still need to win a prelim in Melbourne, prob against Geelong...

going on that 8 if there are no upsets in the whole finals series it would be

Week 1
Collingwood vs west coast MCG
Geelong vs hawthorn MCG
Carlton vs essendon MCG
St kilda vs sydney Etihad
Week 2
West Coast Vs Carlton Pattersons
St Kilda Vs Hawthorn MCG

Week 3
Collingwood Vs Hawthorn MCG
Geelong Vs West Coast MCG

Week 4
Collingwood Vs Geelong
Thats if there are no upsets, and the way the saints are playing they could upset most teams, especially if ST Nick gets back to his best for finals

didnt you read the post, i said if West Coast Can cause an upset in the first week they are certs to make the GF. because if they finish 4th and can beat Collingwood, they will get a Home Prelimanary final and Probably play Hawthorn, and just at the moment they look unbeatable over there

Sorry to pour cold water over all that work you have done Joker, but it was all un-necessary.
If there are no upsets during the finals its obvious --- lst meets 2nd in the Grand Final

Anyone saying Collingwood v Geelong needs to remember that Geelong haven't beaten Hawthorn in a final since 1963!

Updated after this weekends results, Western Bulldogs and Melbourne are now officially out of the race. Down to 5 sides battling it out for final 3 spots.

St Kilda 42 points : Sydney (ANZ), Kangaroos (Etihad), Carlton (MCG)
Essendon 42 points : West Coast (Pattersons), Port (Etihad), BYE
Sydney 38 points : St Kilda (ANZ), Geelong (Skilled), Brisbane (SCG)
Fremantle 36 points : Kangaroos (Etihad), Collingwood (Pattersons), Western Bulldogs (Etihad)
Kangaroos 32 points : Fremantle (Etihad), St Kilda (Etihad), Richmond (MCG)

That gives me :
6th St Kilda 50 points
7th Essendon 46 points
8th Sydney 42 points

To miss: Kangaroos 40, Fremantle 36

St Kilda to lose all 3 and roos to win all 3 has:
6th sydney 46
7th essendon 46
8th roos 44

st kilda 42
not totally beyond the realms of possibility

Swans look shot, limping towards the finals.....if Carlton play them first week I will be very confident.

However Carlton have a tough run so I am not sure where they will finish. If they finish 4th somehow, Collingwood v Carlton first week will be the biggest game of the last 10 years.
