It was even being discussed before that, but that's certainly the most famous incident and an iconic image related to the issue.

Anyone remember the incident where Eddie Hocking punched James Manson at Footy Park?
It's all the SANFL's fault.

I don't know what everyone else thinks but, to have a written statement apology is not good enough IMO! I think it shows no remorse at all.

He's only done what he was told to do. In fact, he should have just done what they would have told him to do in the first place.

Not make race based comments.

If what I was told tonight about what he said is true it's pretty bad
Last thing a player needs wether it's first or 201st game
Apparently he is a pretty in popular guy at the bulldogs as I'd expect
Been told this was standard behavior for him as a junior also

What did he say Johno?

Akermanis agreed that the punishment wasnt harsh enough and also said that he didn't think he was sinceare enough in his delivery of his laywers written apology. Should of given him 10 games. wanker

That was the other part that irked me, is it that hard for players to go in without a script to make an apology that actually sounds half-genuine? His eyes didn't look up from the page at any stage. Hard to believe there's any sincerety at all.

If he's dumb enough to even say it in the first place, then he's probably not really smart enough to remember what his legal types told him he should say to avoid any further hassles.

He's a professional footballer. Would you rather him get his pay cheque by doing nothing but sit on the sidelines?

In any other profession a racist comment would warrant instant dismissal, bye bye paycheck.

He's a very lucky man IMO.

Very lucky indeed. I'm just saying it's better he's actually playing than doing nothing to "earn" his money.

In the initial sense it does appear a lesser penalty than what they type of thing calls for, yet it was also mentioned that it was agreed to after counselling with the player involved who felt it was a suitable punishment, if the lad that copped the abuse is happy with the outcome then its probably not unreasonable that it does not have more put with it.
