What would be the minimum Roos would be looking for in $$$ to Coach the Crows? Can they afford him - can they afford not to get him if he is available?

Would Roos really move here? If he was still that keen on coaching he would still be at the helm of the Swans

Just for some food for thought regarding 3 of the 4 possible replacements the media keeps spruiking on about I was thinking to myself the other day about how in every case I can think of in the last 25 years where a former club player has been brought in to coach the club without having been at least an assistant at another AFL club (that includes head coaches in other levels of competition) has been mostly a disaster:

John Devine at Geelong
Tony Shaw at Collingwood
Bernie Quinlan at Fitzroy
Wayne Schimmelbusch at North Melbourne
Ken Judge at Hawthorn
Kevin Bartlett at Richmond
Darrel Baldock at Saint Kilda
Michael Voss at Brisbane

The jury is still out on James Hird and Matthew Primus and good luck to Nathan Buckley!

About the only coach I could find with a winning record was (then) Footscray's Terry Wheeler, who compiled a record of 50 wins, 40 losses and 1 draw during his time between 1990-1994.

** Must mention that I forgot to mention Paul Roos who coached a premiership and had a 115-85 win loss record - and 2 draws - during his time as coach of Sydney between 2002 to 2010

He does, but he's not really much worse than Naley or McDermott or any of the other ex players who have written a column in the SM over the years.

The crows should be looking at Roo's in my opinion. Next best would be to go with a Nathen Bassett or even better Sandeson. Not the dead heads in Bickley or Hart.

My thoughts exactly but cant see Roos coming here, I would like to see Bassett have a go, he has done a fantastic job at Norwood and I still think it is easier to attract a local guy. I think that if Roos was keen the crows should jump at the chance and secure Bassett as an assistant. As much as I would hate to see him leave Norwood, lets face it, it will happen at some point soon so I would rather see him at the Crows. Im not sold on Goodwin doing any better yet either.

Roos doesn't want to coach again (for the near future at least) if you believe what he said on 5AA last week. He is happy to be away from the stresses of the role and is enjoying his media work.
