Reading the 'tiser today and he stated that our midlfield rivals that of Collingwood. Now, I love the Crows but I don't think that you can compare Thompson, Reilly and Douglas to Swan, Pendlebury and Thomas.
Two years ago Reilly was playing for his career at the Crows. I was one that was on the ship him back to Melbourne train but, am very glad he has made me eat my words. He has turned in to a very valuable member of the team. Douglas is a spud at best and was the best of an average crop last year. Thompson is one that is justifiable to be mentioned in the same article as those 3. A very under rated midfielder and IMO would be one of the Top 10 ranked players in the league.
Would love to hear everyones opinion wether you agree with me or not.
Thompson isnt rated by alot of people unfairly for his dissposal, however when you are having 35 of them and high contested possession i think you can be forgiven. I rate him massively and he is vital to AFC in the next 2-3 years
Reilly disposes of the ball well and has been thrown around a bit in his time at AFC but seems settled the last few years.
Douglas i dissagree with you SD. He was a stand out last year and developed massively. He has been bashed around the ears by 'supporters' ever since he came to the club. He played as a small forward for the start of his career where he probably never played as a junior. Being a small forward is the hardest possie on the ground. He kicks for goal well and marks well for a medium/small player. Although his form hasnt been great this season i think he will bounce back and be good for our midfield in years to come.... plenty of development left in him
