Robert Shaw

I think Robert was a better coach than many people give credit for. The majority of the 97/98 flag squad was assembled during his time people forget that.

Agreed- Robert Shaw set up those Premierships

He didn't win them though. Still don't think he was the worst coach there was though! Chris Connolly gets my vote.

The number or Richmond candidates (KB. Spud, Geish, Wallace etc) would tend to suggest it might be their environment more than their abilities?

REB mentioned Tony Shaw and I'd think he would have to get a nomination, but IMHO it's hard to go past Judge, with maybe Tim Watson as a runner up.

Mike Nunan - that 1996 Fitzroy side was so dead set ordinary it wasn't funny even with the benefit of early draft picks in the preceeding three years. Gee he had Pike, Primus, Boyd, Johnson, etc good solid core of players so the players were there got to question the coaching....

1. Gary Ayres - The guy was a complete dud. He get the Cats to one Grand Final and did nothing after that.
2. Graham Cornes - had the state to pick from and went for a state side in the first few years I still say 1993 should have been the crows first premiership.
3. Tim Watson - Great player just couldn't coach St. Kilda made a mistake there.
4. Grant Thomas - had one of the best lists at his disposal and did not win a premiership.
5. Ross Lyon - you might get that team to 2 Grand Finals and not win a thing.
