With the likes of Goodwin, Mcleod, Edwards, Burton not going around next year i'd thought that would free up a fair bit of $$cash$$ which would enable the Crows to give Bock a bigger incentive based contract for next year.
Surely an extra 100k he would of stayed.
They obviously don't think he's worth it.
With all that extra money they should be going hard at Pavlich.

Spot on mate. This will only be the tip of the iceberg. Wait until Ablett formally announces he's going.

Cant blame Bock for going, i would if i was in his situation. From a Crows supporters view, i am sorry to see him go - has been a great player for us and All-Aust defenders dont grow on trees. He is replaceable though. Hell, we may even start kicking the ball forward from defense without him ! ;)

My thoughts exactly Felchy. I don't hate the man at all, and I'd seriously consider doing the same if I was in his situation. In fact, I think it was good form to come out and say it now. No resentment from this Crows fan, I wish him all the best in his future with the Gold Coast.

Its been reported that he will be $600k better off over the 3 years by heading north. Not sure how accurate that is, but even if its half that, its a fair bit !

An extra $100k on top of his reported $400k with some added incentives surely would be a good thing to keep him in Adelaide.

Bock's not worth the money the Gold Coast have offered him. I suspect even he knows that, that's why he's going to take the offer.

At the top of his game he's a very decent player, but injury concerns would have to deflate his value considerably. Hell, arguably he has really only had 1 full season at the top of his game in the whole time he's been with the club (2008).

I say good on Adelaide for keeping the $$$ in the bank for someone, internally or via trade, who deserves it.

As for the Pav, that ship has sailed. We have enough up forward, now we need more in the engine room to get it to them.

It probably would have, but with some of the younger guys coming through at the moment, Adelaide's salary cap may be put under pressure over the next few years. They can probably afford it now, but when they have to re-sign the likes of Dangerfield, Tippett, MacKay, Otten, Sloane, etc down the track, the extra cash may be needed. The decision to let him (ie. not match the GC offer) go may have been driven by that fact.

I agree with Gingernuts, he is not worth that much - so why not take the cash and move up to the sunshine !

And agree with leaving things alone with Pav too. Need some hard running midfielders more than a forward. Not that Pav wouldnt be good to have, but how much good footy has he got left in him.

He is very over rated and injury prone and certainly not worth 600k a year.

If he made this announcment before the showdown where he was embarrassed by westhoff the crows would still be in the finals hunt. He has forgotten the 1st job of a defemder is to stop his opponent kicking goals.

Apparently he has only 1 top 12 finish in the crows B&F in his whole career, IMO that says alot about his durability.

Could there be a bit of bris bears about the gold coast, clubs will keep players they really want and off load injury prone players bock, krakour, brown. these 3 wouldnt have played a season between them this year

I find it hard to fathom anyone would have a go at Bock for doing this. $750K a season, what's that nearly double what he was on with the Crows? 3 year deal for $2.25m, he'd be mad to knock that back. He's probably only got 4-5 years left in him, the Crows are going nowhere too (unfortunately but hey that's the clubs fault). If he were 31-32 playing like crap in and out of the side each week the club would have no qualms about delisting him. So hopefully Trigg pulls his head in and doesn't keep squealing like a stuck pig, loyalty ain't a one way street but with AFL clubs it usually is.

So you want fan loyalty while Bocky heads off for the coin? I love bagging the Blackbirds but you can hardly blame the fans.

More the fact that they appear to think his departure might be a good thing.

Injury prone, quality youngsters coming through etc etc. He is a AA CHB. Dont know how many of the blokes "coming through" are or will be. IMO he's a big loss and they will take a year or two at least to find a genuine replacement. If they can at all.

Nice Farmy, but I was expecting to see Guy McKenna with open arms on one side, Craigy with daggers on the other, and GAJ somewhere in the background with a halo!

Im reading through these posts Booney an are really struggling to see how any of them are fickle. Most people are wishing him luck and dont blame him for leaving. Others are saying he can be covered, looking at it positively. The one post i didnt agree with is the one saying he is an average player at best. He is a good CHB and im sure most crows fans would want him still playing, but you move on. There are positives with this too.

Booney the return of Otten and the progression of Davis will certainly help cover Bock. If he had stayed, who do you think would have missed out in the back six? In asking this, I dont think it would have been Bock but if all fit it would have been interesting.

Exactly, with the Port/Adelaide rivalry you are damned if you do damned if you dont by other sipporters. He's gone no point crying over it. The future of the AFC there and they have been given game time this year. Bock hasnt played most of the season and Davis has shown he can hold down the CHB position. He will continue to improve. It doesnt matter if he becomes AA as long as he gets the job done.

good luck to him, wish he was staying but for the extra money he will be getting it would have been a very easy decision. I think the Crows will cover his loss pretty easily too. I am pretty sure most people would accept a job offer in sunny QLD for an extra $200 000 each year. I know I would as it allows you to setup your family and yourself for life.

just hope he plays badly against the crows
