Totallt agree DB, Kevin Sheedy made them both look like the second-rate journos that they are last night, was gold!

Sheedy clinically owned Hutchison last night, leaving him looking like a stunned mullet.

Wilson does okay, sure she ain't no oil painting, but she isn't there to look good.
Grant Thomas does little for show.

I don't mind Grant Thomas, from what I've seen he's pretty forthright and generally avoids sensationalism.

i'm not sexist or anything but i just can't listen to a woman's opinion on footy... it's just not right! they've never played or coached at the highest level yet they get a gig like this and add what?!? if it was a bloke in her position they wouldn't get a gig because they don't have AFL experience... Feminazis are ruining this world..... ok now i sound sexist...

same as that Kirsty Malthouse or whatever her name is... if she wasn't a Malthouse then she'd be a nobody... it is rubbish IMO!

Yep, sexist. Hutchy doesn't look like he could kick a footy (eat one maybe), but we're more likely to wanna hear what he has to say.

Conversely, there are plenty of journos/commentators who have played heaps of pro footy who talk a lot of rubbish.

Interesting thoughts but not correct IMO and yes you do sound sexist.

How many games has Gerard Whately, Hutchy, Bruce Macavaney and The Late Clinton Grybas played of AFL? How many Olympics has Bruce been apart off as a competetitor?

One of Grybas's most famous calls was the 2000 womens water polo final at the olympics, how can he understand the rules and tactics if he has never played or coached at the highest level, so why should they be able to call it? How can Whately call the Australian Open when he has never played a high level of Tennis? There are probably a thousand more cases.. You see how ridiculous your point is when you think about it...

yeah partially... i just didn't think much about it before puttin it out there... it might just be me, but when it comes to footy, it doesn't sound right from a woman...
BTW... the sexist bit i made sure i put in there... i'm not really sexist... i am just 'old fashioned'...

Some would argue old fashioned was sexist, any who..

For as much as Hird sits on the fence at least his comments are thoughtful as opposed to Walls who just shot his mouth off. Hird is, IMO, too recently out of the game and therefore feels he still has some sort of obligation to behave. Two weeks back when the umpiring issue arose he mentioned Scott McLaren then said ( along the lines of ) " I better be careful here " ,but Jim, you dont play anymore and the AFL cant fine you anymore.

If some one could get that message through to him I think he would be much more relaxed and as a result a much better commentator on the modern game.
PAFC. Forever.

LOOK OUT, WE'RE COMING!

I'm sexist when it comes to 'professional' sport as well.
Footy = Male
Netball = Female.
