Anyway, heres mine

Hawthorn
Collingwood (don't know why!)
W. Bulldogs
Nth Melb (then they'll do nothing in sept)
Carlton
Port
Geelong

Fremantle

Richmond
Brisbane
Adel
St Kilda

Essendon
W Coast
Sydney
Melbourne

Dream on if you think Carlton will finish above any of them. Sydney and Richmond might get by you as well. As for Fremantle making the eight they'll be flat out avoiding the spoon.

Not bad for someone who hasn't put down any predictions REB.
Going by who you've put in bold i'm guessing your saying the top 8 is going to be virtually the same as last years top 8. Pretty rare I would say.
I don't see any reason you would rate Adelaide higher than Carlton, or Port even.
Geelong might be wishful thinking i guess, they just seem to think they are the Harlem Globetrotters of the AFL and i think they'll get caught out a bit with the pace of the game improving.
Let us know your thoughts REB, or are you not keen in case you get found out at the end of the season ;) I'm not fussed if i'm wrong, happy to admit it

Carlton will struggle to make the 8, one of the worst defences in the league and an unhealthy relience up forward and a coach who has done nothing

Honestly cant see why everyone is talking them up....also see Ratten is complaining about going to Bunbury to play a practice match, after 3 games in Melbourne!

REB good point IMO.

My predictions for 2009 (obviously not going to be right but these are my views)

Hawthorn
Geelong
Collingwood
St Kilda
Port
Richmond
Carlton
Bulldogs

Adelaide
Essendon
North Melbourne
Brisbane
Sydney
West Coast
Fremantle
Melbourne

Im thinking this is the year that Sydney drop down the ladder, has to happen sooner or later, melbourne and freo well cant see them moving from there, port will be big improvers as much as i hate them and i think the tigers will give the 4 a shake if riewoldt, shultz and hughes have a good year to release Richo...

Yes I did list it in order. It does seem a wild prediction but I think Adelaide are good enough to finish that high.

I'm actually surprised that so many pundits are tipping Sydney to be big sliders. I can't see too many teams finishing ahead of a side that still contains the likes of Brett Kirk, Jude Bolton, Adam Godes, Ryan O'Keefe, Michael O'Loughlin and Barry Hall!

i will be over the moon if the crows get the double chance. Could you not fit carlton in that 8? i would replace either brisbane or western bulldogs, unless carlton burn out after the first 8-10 games.

People have been tipping this for years and it just never happens.. I think they will be around the mark for the 8 again.

Hall is getting older and older and is just about finished. O'Loughlin will struggle to kick his 30+ this year i reckon and Jude Bolton is average so i can see a fair few teams finishing above them.

6-10 for me.

Well done. I'll take that top comment back (voice apologises and sobs in his lap  ). Some not bad summaries there my man. Will be interesting to see who is closer to the mark at the end of the season because that's all this sort of thread is good for.
You're right about our backline being a bit light on. Some up and comers like Jamieson, Bower and co still with a bit to learn though.
Hopefully someone like a Cloke (i know many don't rate him) can use his size, marking ability and accuracy at goal can take some pressure off Fev.
I'm still excited though.

You are pretty harsh on Lynch there REB considering he spent a lot of last season playing on the wing and in the midfield ala Matthew Richardson, i would in fact say he was very consistent, only had less than 20 possesions twice in the last 10 weeks. Also finished runners up in the Eagles best and fairest. Was his best year as an Eagle.

The top 4 seems fairly certain, but I expect a major log jam around the bottom of the top 8.

To be fair, that was written a few weeks ago now and Carlton have looked pretty good since then but it's only NABasketball they've been playing. Possibly the worst call is Richmond. They still keep kicking it to the opposition.
