Pre-Season Ladder Prediction

Everyone seems to have Carlton in the eight but the last time I checked they couldn't beat Hawthorn, Geelong, Sydney, North Melbourne, St Kilda and Adelaide. They lost to Essendon twice last year as well. Not much good having a good midfield if all you've got to kick to is Fev. Also at Blueland they have a lot of injuries already. Walker, Scotland, Fisher, the perpetually injured Hartlett is a fair casualty list for January.

No Blues in the eight for mine.

Shit is Harts injured...better let the club know REB.

The other blokes will be ready for round 1. And of those blokes probably only Walks & Scotto would get a run in the 1's.....

Geelong....should, not could be, but should be.
Hawthorn...lucky to get flag, still not near Geelongs best
Collingwood..way too inconsistent, could finish near bottom if they don't get a good start
Western Bulldogs.. have the potential for a top two finish. wait and see?
Kangaroos...always seem to have average-ordinary list but defy odds and make finals
Port Adelaide... If injury free could do some damage
West Coast... Were they as bad as last year looked?
Adelaide... rebuilding and will be good for experience, would lose to WC in elimination final(is that who they would play?)(actually, i think they would play NM,.is that right

Carlton...Judd,Stevens,Fevola,Murphy,Gibbs,Kruezer. When they play well they win, if not. lose
Richmond...Will play well till injuries take toll on Richo and Cuz
St Kilda... have lost their heart. or maybe their bad luck charm :?
Freo... Nothing but the Pav
Brisbane...Depends what Black, Brown and Bradshaw do
Sydney.. Will try hard but lose the tight ones for a change
Ess... about 3 years off anything decent
Melb.. What happens from here? Special grant for extra picks? I don't think so with GC team coming.

Not sure aqbout everyone else Reberta, but my reasoning was based on them improving on last season (and they have the kids with that scope to do it) ... They can be a hand-full for anyone in Melbourne with their legion of fans, and from memory they probably only needed another 2 wins more than last season to get through.

Naturally with this thing there's a lot of guess, and as Hondo said (either here or in another thread) there's about 10 teams you could throw a blanket over as being in roughly the same boat, ie, you can list pro's and con's for them all.

I know depth is an issue, particularly if Judd or Fevola go missing for any decent period of time.

Roos 14th...any particular reason. I know their average age is about 12 now but they're better than a lot of the teams you've put above them.

couldnt really split lions power and roos, so i just put them in that order, also i dont see much potency in their forward line to get enough wins on the board. only my opinion though lol

Hale, Edwards (round 6 start coz of drink driving), petrie, thomas and campbell....id say thats a pretty decent forward line.

Pratt, Gibson and Firrito in the backlines are good.

Swallow, Harding, Urquhart, Harris, Rawlings, Simpson and BOOMER!!! in the midfield...i reckon we'll go alright...at least make finals....hopefully

For the bloke who said Eagles last...nah, that ain't gonna happen. If it didn't happen last year it won't happen this year. The Demons couldn't beat a drum.

some people like me would say melbourne is the strongest team in the comp, as all last year they were holding everyone else up on the ladder ;)

well said HH....add a fit Corey Jones to that forward line and it would be in the top 4 in the comp, our forward line is not an issue, our only weakness IMO is our midfield
