On paper, our full strength 2024 team is weaker than our 2023 team. I know some players will naturally get better but it's a bit disappointing we haven't actively sort some key positions (i.e. defender, midfielder). Look at how much Dawson and Rankine have improved the team. Must draft well.

How so? Cause of McAdam? I dont think so.
At worse, we break even 2023 to 2024 with list, and with dare i say it organic growth with the kids, we should be better on paper in 2024.

edit: forgot about Doedee! Ok yeah i can see slightly backwards now...

Yeah Doedee and McAdam out - both Round 1 starters this season. Burgess in. Maybe we've been spoilt the last few seasons but I would like to have seen another in. Petty would be huge.

But yes, as Booney says rightly, next year probably isn't quite the year just yet (but I would love Walker and Sloane to have another crack and I don't think they'll be in the best 22 for much longer).
The key thing is Walker. Will he have another year like 2023?

I mean good luck to him to keep playing well as he gets older, but time catches up with all of usbat some point.

This time next year will be a big one for the Crows, Welsh looks like he will be top 20ish at the moment and could end up being top 5 depending on his 2024 season where you think he would get a look at League footy.

Crows didn't have the biggest of trade periods and on paper maybe start 2024 slightly weaker than 2023, not taking into account player development.

Don't think its the end of the world for them though, i mean who did big things in the off season. Lots of c graders moving around with the exception of one or two. Hard to say that any teams changed their 2024 fortunes during this trade period.

Only team that i think that did big things in and around Adelaide was Sydney and potentially you could make a case for Essendon.

I think he'll end up top 10 as next year's draft looks stronger. So they'll need to bank a few picks for that.

Indeed you will, he's very much in your thinking.

10, 14 and 20 probably trades up and Hawthorn who have 4, 44, 47 and 49 would be a prime target to talk too.

Give them 10 and 14 for 4 and get a top end talent.

I was thinking they might trade some of those picks for futures with more total points value to use for bidding in 2024

They not moving as have father/son McCabe - predicted to go at 18 so would be a gutsy to move from 4 to get 10 & 14 with a risk someone bids on him before 14

4 = 2034 points

10 = 1395
14 = 1161
= 2556 points

Thats why they have 44, 47 & 49 to cover for the bid

Exactly right, but Booney knows better, he clearly doesnt understand the system which is surprising since he's the self proclaimed oracle.
we have pick 4 and a "top 18" pick in McCabe as it stands. why would we move back to 10 and potentially just McCabe at 14, effectively moving from 4 to 10 for no gain whatsoever?
