When do their concessions with salary cap run out?
Would imagine they will struggle to fit them all in when they start making names for themselves. I know a few big Vic clubs are already sniffing around

That's why there stars (ablett, bock, Brennan) all have massive front ended contracts so they can cope with the first rounders coming through in two to three years time. They'll lose some, but keep most IMO

Probably pretty good if they can keep there good players. There has already been some talk that the Perth boys have already been circled like sharks....

All of the juniors will be circled I think mate. But imagine being a young fella, at the club, knowing how good some of the players are, the lifestyles good and success seems pretty close!

Might stay there win one of the free flags they have been given and then come home for some cash.

Just a question me and my mates have been mulling over for the past few weeks.

How long do you think Guy McKenna will last at the GCS? I'm not for an instant saying he's done a bad job at all. In fact, I think he's done better than most on here thought with such a young list. But history shows that inaugrual coaches last maybe 2/3 years?

It might be a case where McKenna gets the team to a stage and can go no further, he might even win a premiership, or other teams may r*pe and pillage the talent and the GCS plateau out. Who knows.

What are your thoughts?

Gold Coast midfielder Daniel Harris retires from AFL football

GOLD Coast midfielder Daniel Harris has retired from AFL football, citing injury as the main reason behind his decision to hang up his boots.

Harris, who has been part of the expansion club since its formation, joined the Suns from North melbourne and retires after 160 AFL matches.

He played 11 matches for Gold Coast this season and averaged more than 17 disposals, but ultimately persistent groin problems have forced him into retirement at age 29.

Before joining the Suns, Harris played 149 matches with North Melbourne after making his debut in 2001.

He was delisted at the end of the 2009 season before the Suns, realising the need for some bigger, harder bodies to support their growing young list, selected him with the No.1 pick in the 2010 Rookie Draft.

Harris is believed to have told teammates of his decision to retire earlier this week, with the club confirming the decision via its Twitter feed on Wednesday morning.

This could go in it's whole new "WTF" thread:

http://www.couriermail.com.au/ipad/hunt ... 6116732300

So this is from prior to the weekend just gone...

Apparently there was a bit of promotion for Folau v Hunt in the Curtain Raiser game, and Guy McKenna wanted to put a stop to it, because he is not there for the promotion of football.

I wholeheartedly agree with this approach, but having said that, it is a comment at odds with what everyone has been saying about Hunt playing AFL and getting paid ridiculous dollars to do so...

Thoughts guys?

GOLD Coast Suns players Campbell Brown and Maverick Weller were detained and handcuffed after allegedly being involved in a fight with a Thai policeman.

The club confirmed an incident last night, saying it would grill the players when they arrived back in Australia at the weekend.

Could be worse... Fev's had a few chances and still may get another one yet, first cross against Weller (and for all I have heard Brown), so nothing will happen...

The so-far delisted Suns players are:
Nathan Ablett, Michael Coad, Marc Lock and Jack Stanlake.
rookie-listed players Roland Ah Chee, Jake Crawford, Jack Stanley and Joel Tippett.

Does anyone think they will get a second chance at another AFL club??

Campbell Brown has been "relieved" of the deputy vice captaincy as a result. No action taken against any of the other players.

Would like to see Marc Lock get a go elsewhere, I believe he was the suns captain 2 years ago?
