I dedicate Franki Valli if Geelong win today
He once sprouted this melodious tune
" OH WHAT A NIGHT LATE SEPTEMBER BACK IN '63."

I dedicate the late great John Lennon if Port win today
" POWER TO THE PEOPLE."

Geelong have more fans than Port. If it truly is going to be power to the people then it will be a Geelong premiership. Alas Malakin has been seduced by the dark side.

It was, I spent half the night watching it, can never get tired of the 1970 GF between Carlton and Collingwood watching the Blues come back from 44 pts down at half time.
Also enjoyed the 71 GF seeing North's CEO run around for St Kilda.

What a 5hit grand final that was. Kick mark, fumble, out of bounds, drop kick, point, repeat. Bloody awful football. After seeing that I am convinced that nearly every team in this year's premiership would go out and pound either of those two sides who played off in 1965. The superior running and fitness would lead to a blowout of Kangaroos preportions but the modern teams would fast run out of puff with only two reserves and would then revert to kicking it over the line just like the old boys would have done.

The game has improved out of sight. While some of the changes made in this decade have taken away the contest overall it is a much better game now than it was back then. I believe the AFL should bring back 1990's interpretations but retain the protection of the head philosphy..we dont' need any more Sashces (sp?). However, when the 1970 Grand Final came on that too looked light years ahead of the 1965 Granny. The out of bounds on the full rule is something that really improved the game.

I hope the Cats can recreate that seven goal burst the Blues had after half time...just hope we aren't 44 points down when we do it. And how impressive was Collingwood's opening quarter?" If they kicked 8.4 instead it would have been all over.
