Port Adelaide football player Jarman Impey allegedly involved in crash at Norwood

Andrew Hough, The Advertiser

A PORT Adelaide footballer is being investigated by police amid claims he fled the scene of an eastern suburbs accident after a teammate’s party.

Jarman Impey, 21, is said to have crashed into at least four parked cars on George Street, Norwood, just after 7pm on Saturday.

He is said to have attended a party at the home of team mate Angus Monfries, 29, who lives nearby.

Neighbours reported seeing a distressed Monfries at the accident scene after his Audi was one of the cars that was crashed into.

Monfries declined to speak about the accident on Sunday morning, telling reporters “get off the land”.

A Port spokesman said the club was aware of reports “alleging one of its players was involved in a motor vehicle accident last night”.

“The club is in contact with South Australian Police and will not provide any further comment until it has all the information at hand,” he said.

Police say a white Commodore was seen turning left from Bonney Street before crossing over to the wrong side of the road and hitting a parked ute.

The force of the smash pushed the ute into another parked Toyota sedan.

Police allege the Commodore then continued driving north along George street before hitting an Audi sedan, which was then pushed into a BMW M3 sports coupe.

No one was in the parked cars and no injuries have been reported.

Fluid, believed to be coolant, is visible on the road, suggesting the car was driven in an erratic manner.

Witnesses then reported the Commodore stopped a short distance away in Prosser St before the driver fled.

The driver is described as having “tanned skin”, about 180cm tall with short dark hair.

I read this line in an almost identical report:
Witnesses reported the driver fleeing, leaving behind the car keys and a wallet with identification.

Funny that!

Apparently wasn't drinking but still felt the need to need run away from the accident knowing that he was still going to get found out due to it being his car.

What was hiding???

I wonder if he is mates with Ben Cousins?

Also, what else would explain crossing over to the wrong side of the road and hitting parked cars twice, having just left Monfries' place?

On the other side of the coin though, he's really good at maths and his violin teacher says he's excelled under the Suzuki method.

Lets watch the AFL turn a blind eye to this despite us all knowing that something outside of the rules was probably going on.

The AFL has had their head in the sand for far to long.

Maybe doing some burnouts and driving like a flog?
Would think the police would do blood tests and perhaps he has nothing in his system

Not sure that explains the need to run away from the scene though, this has the feel of someone who wanted something to be delayed for as long as possible about it.

I do agree with that.
Find it strange that it's being reported that he won't be charged with drink driving and then just a few moments ago KT comes out and says that players were on the grog

He just needed to swim across the River Torrens and it would have Ben Cousins written all over it......'allegedly ' ;)

Yeah, the burnout-hoon theory is possible, although I would've thought the witnesses mentioned in the news story would've said something to that effect?

Presuming he wasn't questioned and tested last night (no mention of it in the story), if he was intoxicated at the time, a blood test taken today is not going to prove he was over the limit at 7pm last night.

Provided the words "Such is Life" were written all over him.

I'm sure hoon driving would have been pretty obvious and reported as such thanks to witness and markings on the road.

It would also be one of the stupider ways to get caught as its such an attention seeking act.

Keith Thomas has confirmed Impey had been drinking. Possible jail sentence looming?
