Most Crows supporters have no idea of the rules and just go for a social outing so they can be seen. Suggest they take the "Laws of Australian Football" with them to the games. Unlike Port supporters who are unable to read.

The Ad appeals to Crow supporters because they feel they are the superior team. They got in first and they won premierships in Ports two years. But how long can you hold onto and live on two premierships over 10 years ago?

Yes I agree the marketing people at the crows have done well using the term "The Team For All South Australians." It works the same for the university of Texas saying "We Are Texas" The minions will bow down and support them. But in reality to me the Crows will always be a club that was made so that South Australia had a team because the SANFL was scared that Port would take over SA Football by going into the AFL.

True the SA/Vic rivalry became not a one off event (state of origin). True the SANFL didnt want POrt taking over, but the SANFL also probably realised that PA had more haters than supporters and a PA side while would have more supporters than they do today, they probably wouldnt have gained the hardened SANFL supporters... my grandfather would roll in his grave if I supported a port side as a staunch Sturt man. I could be wrong but thats they way i see it. I also think the crows have established enough of a history and identity that it can go away from the 'South Australian side' mentality/marketing.

The state rivalry/hostility works both ways and far pre-dates the Crows - SANFL followers back in the 1960's resented the poaching of players for the VFL.
The Player Retention Scheme came in to being before the VFL re-badged itself as the AFL, rather than be part of an independently run, genuine, national competition..

On the other hand when I lived in Victoria I found Melbourne based teams like Carlton and Essendon were favoured in the media over even slightly non-Melbourne teams like Geelong. And later Sydney were turned back into "Souths" in the Melbourne media during their successful run. Even St Kilda became the "great white hope" in Melbourne when the Crows, Eagles, or even Brisbane, were looking strong.

Mind you the same tension was always there between Victoria and NSW - that's why Canberra exists and is where it is - curse them both!

The umpire fugged up the distance and then made another error by not exercising common sense when Morton wrapped his arms around player. The player who kicked the ball (Rioli) was standing right next to the tackled player when the tackle was applied. 15m my arse.
