Remember, this is the bloke who has cost your club 2 years worth of first & second round draft picks and 2 million worth of fines which will set your back club years!! IMO I would be looking to another coach to take the reigns. Lock in Bomber Thompson now for the next few years to help get out of this mess and tell Hirdy to 'Foxtrot Oscar'.

I could tee off on this but won't. I hope Bomber accepts the gig for 2014. More than happy to Hirdy go from 2015>

And any trade Essendon get involved in firmly places the ball in the other clubs court. If Essendon want something you have got, you can make them pay for it.

Fair point, it will be tough no doubt.
Just hope one or two of these promising father/son picks comes along. There is a loophole and we can claim one with a pick in the 50's even if he is a top 10 prospect

Essendon's VFL side scraped into 8th spot but they plunged in betting today from $41 to $15 to win the flag.
It came on the back that up to 21 AFL listed players are eligible to play finals.
Betting on the AFL match has been suspended after it was revealed that several players will be rested or sent back to the VFL.
The venue for this weeks final holds just over 8000 but Essendon supporters are expected to rock up in big numbers

But it pertains to the AFL side.
Will be a farce if third string team plays Richmond this week

Bit rough on the guys that will miss out, but if they just scraped in then you would think they would struggle to make any impact without them.

Hird's QC says that he was 'heroic'.

Well a QC would say anything to earn $15K a day.

The AFL has advised AFL Victoria that the Essendon VFL side would be permitted to play in the VFL Finals.

Something to look forward to, the AFL deciding if Crows and Power can play SANFL finals

Just a quick question... What would have happened to Essendon had they been sitting below 9th this year? Would they have been promoted to 9th (based on the AFL's decision to place them there because of draft pick ramafications) or would they have stayed in the postion they were? or demoted to bottom?

My guess is they would have stayed in the position if out of the finals - I suspect that by being placed 9th, AFL thought that Essendon's - and their opposition's - crowds would be more likely to turn up this week.

Also, by having GWS remain bottom this year, it wil be easier for the AFL to justify giving them a priority pick in a year or 2.
