Talk on the national game

Wasn’t happy the integrity unit had leaked some information to the media.

That’s what I mentioned over the last couple days. AFL’s handling of it is a disgrace and leaking it to a person with a strong conflict of interest is dead set shithouse.

Would the 4 week penalty and the ‘medical discount’ be as big an issue if 5 weeks wasn’t leaked to Eddie Maguire who then chose to put it out as fact?

The public then expected 5. All the commentary now is on how the afl / Adelaide crows negotiated a discount - and the rationale behind that discount and how bad that makes both parties look.

A discount that wouldn’t have been mentioned if the full process had been let to play out behind closed doors. It would then have been a 4 week ban announced, not 5 reduced to 4.

The process is a shambles and the footy media’s swarming fight for a story or an angle contributes to the shite show.

How dumb is Rankine? Honestly. They get more training then nearly any other field in regard to these issues. Multiple people suspended.
If walked into work and said something similar i would be fired instantly.
Will agree the AFL handled this poorly and should've came out straight away and said 5.

Not really, everyone was expecting 5+ to begin with based off what had happened previously.

So if it happens again at the start of next season dies it reset to 3? Or keep going up from this year?

Just need to establish my expectation before I get outraged for over or under for the next one ;)

Just watched the Nicks presser, made no excuses and said we need to get better.

Basically it’s been tough on Rankine but it’s his own fault but the club will get around and support him.

Not just for this but I can’t recall Rankine ever being interviewed by the media either before or after a game?

James "Who?" Webster pulls the pin after 180 games in the red, white and black. Solid enough, no frills type of player. Maligned at times.

Premiership player Zaine Cordy also won't be returning to Moorabbin.
