What a cracking last round that season was, Melbourne defeated Footscray at the Western Oval to leapfrog them and Geelong into 5th position as the Cats lost to Hawthorn 123 to 126 at Kardinia Park.
The average score for the round was 123, four teams scored over 120 and still lost.
