whats the most that annoys me is that his manager pickering spoke to the swans 12 months ago.Is this turning in to th NRl speaking to rival clubs while contracted...Buddy hid this from his mates and club for 12 months talking about loyalty...

To be honest, if he wanted to leave and was talking to the Swans 12 months out - not telling his mates and putting 100% effort in because of it is some form of loyalty.

Its amazing that Sydney kept it secret for so long ... no leaks at all and the same for last year about Tippett. Perhaps sydney should take over the AFL since the AFL are always leaking :D

Mitch Morton on afl radio asked if Sydney teams really need Cola. His reply, yes and it should be 20% not 9.8%. Said the COLA is shared by all. If you haven't lived there, you don't know how expensive it is.

Well if Mitch said it's true....

Season 2014 will see the average AFL player wage hit $300,000 p.a

The average wage of a full-time worker in Australia is $72,800.

My question is, how the **** do 4.6 million people afford to live in Sydney?

Now I've got a V8, I might ask for a pay rise as my car costs more to run than my mates.

Shows the sort of person Buddy is, its all about him and thats why it wont work.

What sort of DH approaches a team that has just beaten you in a grand final to play for them a year later.
I couldn't imagine even now anyone from Geelong wanting to play for the Hawks and its 5 years on.
Wouldnt imagine anyone from Fremantle has approached the Hawks in the last couple days about joining in 2015.

Add Thomas, Shaw and Mumford to the Hawks and i reckon we might be ok for awhile yet. I would prefer Longer to Mumford though

I don't have an issue with Sydney trying to get Buddy but I do question offering a 10 year deal to a 27 year old. Why to that?

A friend of mine sent this email out today.

To anyone who wants to bring this up again….
I actually want the cost of living allowance gone, just so people stop whinging.
They get under 10% extra, even though any job in Sydney would pay 20%+ more than the same job in Adelaide.
The fact is, Sydney have lost (or are going to lose) the salaries of Mattner, Bolton, Morton, Mumford and White. Even without the additional money they would be able to get Buddy.
Plus, people think they just have the $900k just sitting there ready for this kind of stuff. It is spread across the players. They already got Tippett last year supposedly with that money anyway, so how is it paying for Buddy? Given Buddy and Tippett will now earn 20% of Sydney’s cap, they probably do receive 20% of the additional allowance, but so what? Take $100k per season off both of their contracts and they would still be wearing Sydney guernseys next year. Even if the whole cap was used on Tippett and Buddy, $450k each, Sydney has still found the room in their cap to pay the rest of those contracts which would still be about $1.2 million. Where did that money come from? Good management.
People are jealous that Sydney have managed to get sustained success because they are better at drafting and recruiting than anyone else. They took Kennedy, Mumford and Richards from teams that barely gave them a chance, and made them all guns. They got Goodes at pick 50 something, and Hanneberry at pick 30 something. They find players like Rampe, Alex Johnson, Nick Smith, Mike Pyke, Nick Malceski etc that other clubs all could have recruited, and give them a chance and develop them to be decent players. Sydney haven’t had the top picks like Hawthorn (Buddy, Roughead, Hodge) Collingwood (Pendlebury and Thomas), and St Kilda (Riewoldt, Kosy, Ball) so have had to find good players late in drafts, off rookie lists or from other clubs. Richmond, Melbourne and Carlton have all had an abundance of assistance from the AFL (priority picks and early draft picks) and are still a disgrace, because they have terrible recruiting staff and waste picks on Scully, Trengove, Watts, Tambling etc.
If Sydney weren’t so successful, no one would be saying anything about the additional money, because everyone knows it is more expensive to live in Sydney. If it was to be truly fair, Adelaide clubs should receive the least salary cap as it is far cheaper to live in Adelaide than any of the other capital cities, and the other State teams would be scaled between Adelaide and Sydney.
Rant over.

But that would make them $600k a year players, and other clubs can match that as well. Good management?
