Looks like North will lose Johnston for a few weeks

He deserves his chance. Hopefully as the Crows did last year they will release him for our finals.

He will be aloud to play SANFL finals.
But don't you have too stand out for one week after the AFL finishes. If so lewwy will miss the round 23 match against Norwood that could be the difference between top and second

Cats win by 101
Geelong kicked the last 15 goals in a row
Saints goal less in the second half

First 100+ point loss for the Saints since a 2002 game at Geelong. Glad I didn't have Foxtel tonight, bad enough on radio..

We can't rely on AFL players and we have won quite a few without him this year. We still have Stewart to come back and Archer will be a chance if we can get him on the field!

In my opinion only.

Scott Watters was a dumb decision for a coach.

same as McDonald with Bulldogs.

Can see where you are coming from but it's a common thread isn't it that new coaches are most times assistants from recent premiership winning sides.

You could bring Norm Smith back to life and it wouldn't help the Saints. Their list management during the Thomas and Lyon period was a premiership or bust gamble. They bust.

Luck plays a major part. Harvey inches away from winning the '04 prelim v port (that and all the people that ran onto footy park after Gherig kicked his 100th goal which changed the game's momentum). A Geelong toe poke in the '09 GF which could have gone anywhere but fortuitously found it's mark and a cats goal, and we all know about THAT bounce which eluded Milne in the dying seconds of the 2011 GF which also would have given them victory.
List management doesn't play a part in these instances.

Yes they could have pinched a flag but REB is spot on with his list management.
Under Lyon they failed to bring in young players and kept going back to the same well with the older players. Hard decisions needed to be made by trading the likes of Dal Santo, Kossi etc to get in some fresh blood.
They are paying for it now and its a damning stat that their 6 best players are on the wrong side of 30.
No wonder Lyon was so quick to jump ship, he could see the writing on the wall. Saints wont be competitive for another 5 years atleast. You have the Cats on the other hand who keep bringing in kids and staying around the mark. Proof this premiership window talk is just crap

Reckon you missed my point Jim. Poor list management may have got them where they are now, it wasn't the reason they didn't win 1, 2 or possibly even 3 flags in the last decade.

Fine day and a team bound for finals and they get 2 cats and a dog to turn up, absolutely pathetic crowd
