I reckon he probably has accepted it, but the 2 parties are probably agreeing to precise terms before its made public.

Which would, for Port supporters like myself, be disappointing if true.

But thats how the footy world operates unfortunately.

The muppett Stephen Rowe said he wouldn't be St Kilda coach so you can basically guarantee that he will be coach.

Two sides to every story.

I'm a bit cheesed off that we lose a quality individual like Richardson so late in a year / early into a preseason, but thats footy in todays world. Also a little disappointed that only 24 hours earlier he wasn't interested but his manager (slimy bastards) was still talking with St.Kilda. One the flip side we did secure Phil Walsh recently and he held a similar position at Port through the success of the early 00's along with a similar role at the WCE through their run of the late 00's so all is not lost.

On the other side of the coin a bloke with senior coaching ambitions may have finally got his opprtunity to coach at AFL level in this own right.

Who'd go to St.Kilda though? Yes,I know Port were in a bad way a year or two ago but I think St.Kildas problems run deeper and have been part of their poor culture for much longer than Ports poor run.

David Koch is reportedly blocking the move- Port have matched the Saints salary offer and have sighted that he is contracted until 2015 and have every right to block it should it disrupt Ports coaching structure heading into pre-season.

Interesting..

How would Alan feel about that? I'd imagine if he really wanted this head coach position, he would despise someone for blocking the move.

That could have a negative effect on his remaining time at Alberton.

No win situation for Port in my opinion.

Oh please, Adam Simpson and Damien Hardwick both got head coach positions after being assistants at the Hawks. Let them go and flourish. Nothing to be gained by trying to hold onto them!

If this is the case then Richo is pretty stupid for not having a get out clause in his contract.

Not my view mate, Kochie's.

At the end of the day i'm peeved that my club loses a quality coach, but at the same time if he wants to test himself as head coach then by all means have a crack.

The saints have got a quality coach on board, lets hope their administration does the right thing by him..

Good work by Kochie, Trigg would of walked Richardson out the door if the roles were reversed.

Port have every right to block the move BUT surely it wont be on good terms with Richardson and the partnership would become unworkable at that point.

By the sounds of it Port have some other quality people who can step up to the role left.

Surely the best outcome for everyone is to part ways and both parties move on and look forward to progression.

Blocking the move why didn't we think of that. Come back Sando, Milburn, Scarlo, Mooney, Hinkley, McCartney, Thompson....

He's already gone blocking won't change that. Foolish move by Koch.

REB

Was Ken Hinkley still contracted by Gold Coast when Port appointed him as coach?

Umm, block the move? ... he just has to resign, unless he stupidly agreed to a restraint of trade clause in his contract.

Pretty sure Port blocking the move is just to ensure that they get Richardson's contract paid out.

Yes, although that happened last October, not a week before the November draft which is the case in this instance!
