Yep out of all the positions on a football field the position that is most dictated by team performance is full back.

Couldnt imagine to many defenders in the whole of the AFL would be doing well with the speed and quantity that the ball is going into the Powers defensive 50.

Last week he became the first player I have ever seen have their kickout smothered without playing on.

Not sure if he is just going thru the motions before heading to West Sydney or what. Certainly needs a spell in the SANFL that’s for sure.

I'm a fan of Bobby due to his days spent with SAFC, but I agree with most that he's been pretty ordinary this season and doesn't look in great nick. Send him back to South I reckon...

Ebert, Salopek and C Cornes didn't make the trip to Darwin I heard...

Ebert is an Interesting one... Dropped late last week and can't get a run his week... 24/25 iirc and has some ability... Would he look elsewhere for 2012? Would anyone be interested?!?

Why Port haven't given him the opportunity in the guts is beyond me... A magarey from Centre tells me he can play...

Can't get a game for the bottom side and he selection committee prefer Motlop. I'd be thinking about a change if I was in his position...

Have to agree with your thoughts on Ebert. Surely has enough to offer to get a gig in their current line-up.

Spot on "nuggety goodness".
I'd have C Cornes in my starting 18, i can't believe what they are doing down there, wouldn't you think the younger players will become better players " QUICKER " by playing alongside a good experienced player? i would of thought so.
Maybe its come down to playing the cheapest players because of their debt.
I agree with giving youngsters a go but only if they deserve it, playing them when not ready can create an even bigger drama at the club especially mentally with huge defeats like of late.

Nah mate he has been getting a run in the middle, and he's done jack shit which is why if you werent watching closely you wouldnt have heard about it. Ebert has played enough games to be able to play some good games of footy but he hasnt actually played a decent 4 quarters of footy for a very very long time. A player of his undoubted ability should be playing alot better alot more consistently. As for Motlop he's been going alright and looks like he's gonna burst if he gets enough ball in the forward zone. Motlop got a run through the mids/half back last week and atleast looked half dangerous setting up some play.

Name a forward who has though. Gray can't play more than a good half at most, Hitchcock is good for a few good minutes a game, Schultz and Motlop will struggle with continued poor delivery, Westhoff is in and out of games....

The lad has also has to contend with coming back from a knee reco - need to play him up forward and pinch hit with him in the middle - his work out of the middle in the showdown was actually pretty decent and seemed to kick start port on in that game.

With his knee history I would doubt there would be a great deal of interest elsewhere. But I think Port should persist with him. Pearce is the player that needs to be moved on - hopefully GWS are keen on him and Port can get a decent pick for him

So we have 10 like West Coast? I'm assuming you have made comments regarding the size of their leadership group in the WCE 2011 thread?

Maaaate...Ebert has pinch hit in the middle nearly every week this year, and done NOTHING. I nfact as i said he's done NOTHING since kicking 50 goals in a year about five years ago, simply not good enough for a senior and experienced player. Way too many games with 3 kicks, 2 handballs and a goal.

couldnt agree more, im sick of blokes like Stephen Rowe who carry on the radio about Cornes, Ebert, Salopek and Surjan. They all have been very average for senior players this year. So why not play the kids if these guys arent going to perform at the level they should. Everyone is carrying on about Cornes but his last couple of games for Port were very average and they are better off developing guys who are going to be there in 3 years time or should we play these senior guys and finish middle of the road wothout any long term benefit. The facts of the AFL are that you bottom out to get good picks and games into these kids to cycle back up the top again. The clubs around the top now have all done it and also are benefiting from the soft father son rule that has helped them get some their gun players.

You might be opening up a mine field here quoting the name Ebert and the soft father son rule in the same post ;)

The only reason Brett Ebert is on the Power list is because someone stuffed up in the interpretation of this rule - They didn't take into consideration the 'years in which they were achieved' criteria regarding Russell's SANFL games record.
