One bad year for Adelaide. If Sturt lose this weekend, is it vale Sturt in the state league?

14,113 there tonight. Yep, cold night (it is winter..), poor opposition (mean you'll probably see the club win eh?), TV half hour delay blah blah.

Awful. Too many front-runners among the Port 'faithful' perhaps?

I guess a South supported shouldn't make digs at crowd numbers. I do feel a bit for the head honchos at Port though. Tough job.

I wonder what has been gained by Port wanting to join the AFL back in 1990. Would've been a SANFL crowd back in the day.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

A pathetic last quarter by the Power, too.
I used to think the going defensive too early was Choco's instruction, when I saw the runners go out and it followed.
Now it seems it is built into the players either by instinct, or years of training.

Well done to Nathan Van Berlo and the Blackbirds today. Two men short in hot conditions with not much riding on the result...could have led to a blow out if you were the sort of club content to roll out the excuses.....

Van Berlo showed real leadership out there today. I am not aware of his TOG stats but I don't reckon he got much rest today. To then step up and ice the game with a tough shot in the pocket showed what he is made of.

Perhaps VB is not such a bad drop after all.

What do the Power need to do get more crowd at football park. For the record i got offered free tickets to next week game not going to take up the offer though.

How many free tickets are they giving away? I know of at least 5 people who got freebies yesterday.

Mate, i remember you saying once that you would take Danyle Pearce over VB a year or 2 back. Im not 100% convinced on Van Berlos suitability for the skipper's role, but reckon we could do much, much worse.

People seem to think or are being spun that moving the club to Adelaide Oval will increase attendances. I think that irrespective of where the match was played it would have made little difference to last nights crowd numbers.

Port would likely pick up an extra 5000 maybe for Friday night footy at Adelaide when the weather is good than what they usually get, but larger increases than that are unlikely to happen in the short term.

Simply winning games will get the crowds up, there are plenty of supporters that will only go along to matches when the side is showing good form and will not be there when they are outside of the eight and unlikely to make it.

Perhaps the main problem is the simple cost of going to the footy, a family ticket, car parking, tucker at the game and so on all adds up, people in Adelaide by average earn less than in the eastern states and I have suspected for a long time that people pick and choose which games they will attend as opposed to attending all, especially when its all of a 20min delay on tv.

I've always thought that was the case. Why bother when you can watch it on TV?

Joke suggestion on BigFooty was Port moving their home games to Alberton. If you could increase the capacity to 22000, it's not actually that stupid a suggestion.

There is no doubt the cost of attending a game is a major hit to the average weekly budget. Those of us who buy memberships, season tickets etc dont feel the weekly pinch of the $50 at the gate for a faimly, $7 car park, food and drink ( even if you take your own in, you still have to buy it at some stage ) so it is in all reality a $100 night out. Who would choose to do that when its 4°, 13 V 16th?
PAFC. Forever.

Did a lot to make a case for the captaincy today. We've had a different acting captain since Goodwin got injured and he's the only one that has really made a solid case for permanently receiving the role. I reckon he could be the type of player that would revel in the responsibility of captaincy.

Thinking of the Cows skipper, is M. Doughty a chance? My workmates all think he'll be gone, but I reckon he'll still be there...

That would be a waste of time I reckon as he would only have it for a year or two.

Good to see Goody retire from the Tingles without too much fanfare.

Pity a pigheaded team-mate of his didn't do the same.
