Agreed, although Carlton won’t win 8 games.

Yeah, they're still a long way off the pack and I think Brisbane are still another developmental year away.

I'm not sure that Essendon are quite there yet either, on the up but still mid range.

His assessment on Port is harsh, but fair, I didn't realize how many times they'd missed the finals in recent times, and Freo, well they are just the laughing stock of the AFL, they were so close not so long ago but as far away from a premiership now as Carlton and St. Kilda.

I don't think Carlton will win 8 games but I think they need to IMO, Saints are no doubt under pressure also but are restricted heavily by their list management/recruiting in the last 5 years, I'm just not sure even internally they believe they can have a better than average season.

I'm surprised more people haven't put Lyon / Fremantle under the pump. Then again, nobody really gives a shit about them so there's no need to comment on them.

Carlton will win 5 or more games, Gold Coast, St Kilda, Fremantle are all below Carlton IMO.

Carlton have a crap draw, they play Gold Coast and Brisbane at home as well as away, they play St. Kilda at Marvel and at the MCG.

The teams that they could snag a sneaky win against they play interstate, I think 3 or 4 wins tops, they might jump the Swans early in round 3 before any injuries set in, it looks pretty dim for the first 11 rounds though.

Could string two together before the bye.

Freo played in GF in 2013, top 4 in 2014 and finished Minor Premier in 2015 losing to eventual premier Hawthorn at home in prelim, 3 ordinary years have followed however we know how hard Ross goes as a flag and the cost post the contender run. They do need to show something this year, and quite possibly will.

I will be disappointed if we don't make finals or at least challenge right up to the end of the minor round, the main thing I want to see is our youngsters really stepping up. I don't think we are under the pressure of many other teams to perform though. This time last year we were even money favs for the spoon.

Any team that misses the finals by 1 game and adds to their list after a big spending summer is under pressure.

To their defense one would suggest that they over-achieved last season, based on where they did finish up you'd think a home final would be the pass mark for 2019.

I picked them to finish 11th, would be interesting to see which 50/50's I went against them, I think GWS and Sydney will slide a bit and I think the top 4 will be pretty set by about round 18.

Most of Port's recruits came from loose change in the ashtray, Rockliff is the only one I was happy to go with, he hardly set the world on fire though.

Not sure Lycett’s on loose change.

Wrong year mate, I was referring to all the has-been's that never were that Port gave lifeline's to before 2018.
