Time for the 17-5 system I think
At least you get to play all your home games at home, plus 2 away games at home.
Geelong get to kick off the season with a home game against Hawthorn at Hawthorn's home ground.
North get 13 games at Etihad, Crows get 12 at AO but Geelong get 8 at Cat Park

Geelong get a shitload more money playing those home games at the MCG.
They also train on Kardinia Pk every night, none of the tenants at Etihad or the MCG have that advantage.

Maybe when Geelong were spending millions upgrading Kardinia Pk they should've increased capacity by a bit more than 6k, then you could host clubs with larger supporter bases.

That they play home games at Etihad is weird though, that doesn't make much sense to me

I think they made a deal years ago, when Docklands stadium was relatively new and haven't been able to wriggle their way out of it since

Didn't north Melbourne throw their last minor round game this year in order to guarantee an away final in Melbourne rather than in Adelaide? They won't stop that sort of bullshit happening.

If North won their last minor round game, they would've played the Western Bulldogs in the first week of finals.
Adelaide gave up any hope of a home final when they lost their game with Geelong.

Its not finished mate, they're still spending millions and the next stage on the members side is being re-developed to further increase capacity, one of the old stands has already been knocked down. The increase by 6k was just one stage and was the smallest parcel of land to build on at Kardinia Park as there's a road on that side.
