List discussion aside, there has to be some concern on the impact Carr can have….. He’s driving the bus now isn’t he?

The forward handball attacking game plan is his…. But only some of the squad seem to be able to execute it consistently.

Hard to tell, one of our worst runs with injuries this year since Ken took over (it is what it is).

2026 - easier draw, hopefully a healthier list & with those two things alone we are likely to rise (how far, not sure). That may blind some general thoughts on whether the coaching has an impact or not next year.

Whether game plan or coaching contributes to that, it is impossible to know at the moment. All i know is 2025 was a complete waste of a year (besides some development to younger guys)

I guess my point is, you’re not going to get a tactical spike with Carr as he’s already implementing the ‘new’ tactics this year. Unless he tweaks it or the players implement better.

I understand where LM is coming from. Well, at least I agree with what I think his point is.

In a similar, but slightly different way, for mine, i feel the club has made a decision that having all your eggs in the top 23 is the best method. Having a balanced list is handy when you get injuries, but if you get injuries, you aint winning the flag anyway. So it feels to me, the club has had a strategy of attempting to get the strongest 23, and not really worrying about what that leaves on the list from 24-40.

This has meant, we've had a lack of development of kids who aren't already in the playing 23, and we've also looked to bring in guys who fit a gap in the starting team, even if that's meant moving on some depth from other areas on the field. This is the dreaded "missing puzzle piece" rolling joke we had for years.

These two strategies have meant we haven't had a lot of top end draft talent, other than the 2018 draft, and it has also meant we run out of depth when mid-season injuries hit.

I think our recycled players have been fairly average over this period:

That's about where I am with it all as far as developing youth vs recycled players and yeah 2/3's, 30%. Unless we're picking up a genuine talent I would rather see a rebuild and develop some youth.
