Just saw it again, 2 players went over the mark! Must have needed a 3rd to trigger the whistle.

Horrible missed call.

That’s the exact definition of going over the mark.
50m penalty every day of the week

They never call that, if it was a 40m kick to the guy he would have got it.Doesnt matter if it was 2 or 22 blokes.
They're always lenient when the distance is doubtful and are pretty consistent at it.
Probably shouldn't have been called a mark to start with but once again the umps usually do pay 10 metre kicks.

Except the umpire blue his whistle twice (signaling a mark) and the 2 Collingwood players kept coming. They knew it was paid. Sidebottom wasn't even in the area until the second whistle blew and he kept coming.

Shite call by the umps.

Irrelevant mate, they always give leeway for the smaller kicks close to the distance required.
Always. It's not rocket science, they've been doing it since I've been alive.
I'm not saying they should, in fact IMHO they shouldn't, mind you if they could judge a distance accurately in the first place it wouldn't be an issue, should have been play on to start with.
Claiming that decision cost North Melbourne the game is ridiculous, I could probably find at least a dozen more contentious than that one.
Shit call? Agreed.
Consistent with what they've always done? Agreed.

In other news, at least it seems like they’ve found a job suitable for Ken on Ports bench now.

He held up that speeding car cartoon pic expertly.

100% that was a 50 metre penalty. Would have been a 50 in the early 2000's
You've obviously been dead for 18 months since the stand rule came in. They've been paying 50's for players going 1 step past the mark let alone 2 players going 5 steps past the mark

They never do for 50/50 calls with distance. Fact
Yep, if it had travelled 50 metres definite 50. Is that correct? No.
Not staying it's right, in fact I think it's always been wrong, it's the way it always has been though.
Should it have been 50 under the rules?
Yep
Has it ever been for kicks that have travelled less than 20?
Nup
Did it travel long enough to be a legal mark?
Nup, but the umps pay it, another thing I disagree with.

Hey, I was barracking for North Melbourne and it would have helped my team if they'd lost but that is never paid as a 50 (and incorrectly IMHO). It's just the way it is.

Anyhow more importantly Collingwood kicked 119 points, let's concentrate on the big issues people! 8)
