Now I reckon you're getting carried away lol

The only explanation is they are going to delist the majority of these and draft 10 kids in this so called super draft next year. Otherwise, why do it?

Thomas (yet to be signed) and Trengove are one year deals though - to me they're they only real doubts or worries from the pick ups. They wont be on big money, they're practically risk free - if it comes off great, if it doesn't well thanks for giving us a season.

Motlop, Watt and Rockliff all fill needs, and McKenzie is a good pick up.

Is that the super draft that’s always coming the year after next? ;)

Is there a bit of insurance in case Robbie Gray is delayed in his recovery? Does this edge Boak closer to the end?

Both will be playing Magpies. Thomas as experience for the kids (about to spew at the thought of that), Trengove as a no risk pick up. If it comes off, we look like world beaters, if it doesn't so be it. Better off picking him up rather than someone with our last rookie draft pick in probably the shallowest draft of all time

so be it? taking other clubs off cuts is a massive risk. Heads need to roll if it doesn't pay off.

Well i would be taking McKenzie and Trengove over our last 2 possible picks in the rookie draft or last normal draft pick we have this year.
Everyone knows the draft is weak this year.

Not sure how you expect heads to roll over that. No different to Brett Eddy this year. Tried him after a good JLT outing, didn't make it up to scratch at AFL level and spent the year kicking goals for the Magpies. Helped out Marshall with how to present up forward which is going to help Marshall and Port out for the next 10-15 years hopefully

One year deals is the key here. Whoever we pick up in the draft as Booney said is on a 2 yr deal. If the kid is no good after a year and we don't think he can make it, we are stuck with them on the list for another year.

Does seem a lot like putting all of ones eggs in a 2018 basket.... but maybe this is more representative:

No Josh is the one partially obscured, hiding out the back

So i am pretty sure we had 1 less than what we could have had on the list this year. Booney would be able to confirm??

Turnover of players at the moment is -6. Presuming Thomas signs we would be -5 then. Plus the extra list spot means we have 6 positions on our list. Draft picks are as per below plus the draft picks from 80 onward that will be used on the likes of Houston/Lienert/Ladhams to be upgraded to the main list. So we have the spots on the list free to pick up risk free DFA's. No one is actually going to miss out on being drafted. So instead of using the same players like Young, Ah Chee & Impey to rotate in and out of the side, we have gone and picked up other players that can fill a depth need and we can cut after a year if no good to accomodate for the extra draft picks next year that we have.

Main Draft picks: 46, 49, 59

Rookie Draft picks: 12, 30, 48

In:
5
FA in - Rockliff & Motlop
Trade in - Watts
DFA in – McKenzie & Trengove

Out:
11
Trade out – Impey, Ah Chee, Young, Austin & Lobbe
FA out - Trengove
Retire – Krakouer & Monfries
Delistings – White, Palmer & Eddy

Draft picks 2018: Port 1st, St. Kilda 2nd, Port 2nd, North 3rd, Port 3rd, Port 4th
