Foxtel paid shit loads for the rights also. Get Foxtel, problem solved.

Watching some of GWS and Melbourne yesterday I was thinking about Jack Watts and what the future is for him.

I feel for the kid. Melbourne have made some horrible decisions at the trade table and draft in recent years and they made a mistake taking him at #1, no doubt about it. That isn't his fault, but he will forever live with the expectation associated with being a #1 pick.

If he was taken at 28 or 36 he would be seen as an adequate player but as he is a #1 he is expected to be just that and he, for all he will try, won't ever be. Having said that though I can't be sure the bloke goes at 100% in every minute of every game. He was slow and disinterested at times yesterday.

I think a club needing a third tall forward or defender could do worse than chase him. Put him in a new environment with a new coach and he could become a pretty handy addition.
PAFC. Forever.

In fairness to Melbourne, most of the experts at the time tipped him to be the #1 pick. Recruiters that I know all said they would have selected him for their club if they had the first pick.

I feel for the kid, because Melbourne have been a rabble in his time there and high draft picks have to learn to live with high expectations. That said, there's a bloke named Ablett up North that would have had enormous ctations on him, and he wasnt a high pick.

It is what it is, some can rise up through it some can't. Hopefully Watts can be one of the success stories.

Michael Hurley has been a massive flop too. When is he going to tear a game apart?

He wont until they realise they are playing him out of position.
He aint a forward, would like to see him play more in defence as thats where some of his better games have been.
Agree though he has massively underachieved

When will the umpires wake up and call illegal disposal against Hannebery, Jack, And O'Keefe. Every time they get tackled they just drop it.

Dogs really taking it up to the Swans.

Yes, its my biggest gripe with the game.
And the umpire usually says "he tried to dispose of it"
Im sorry but there is no such thing as tried, he either did or didnt dispose of it correctly.
Bring back the old dropping the ball rule

Gia goal of the year.

Why the hell do we have goal umpires.
So many reviews when the ump is in the best position.
I thought it was to remove howlers.
Yet simple decisions that they get paid to call and they ask for review.

It's a joke.

McCartney copped a bit of stick last year and earlier this year but it looks like the Dogs are on the right track.
Got some ripper kids, probably just need a key forward or 2 and they could be pushing a bit higher next year.
They are pretty good to watch at times
