Everyone has an opinion.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion.

Personally, I think you are batshit stupid if you think Judd is over rated.

But if it is your opinion, then so be it.

Fair point, but in this case, it's not the sole indicator. His standard hasn't dropped, no matter whether he has been in a gun team or a struggling (until this year) one. It's why I'm watching Gary Ablett Jnr's first couple of years at Gold Coast with great interest. By the end of next year, we may all know more about his place in the overall scheme of ratings.

Of course it has! Watch some WCE era Judd and think again.

Averaging 26 disposals a game since joining Carlton.

Averaged 21 disposals a game at West Coast.

4.6 tackles a game at Carlton.

3.6 tackles a game at West Coast.

2.6 marks a game at Carlton.

2.4 marks a game at West Coast.

The one area he is down at Carlton compared to West Coast is goals per game: around 1 per game at WC, around .6 per game at Carlton.

Possessions = Quality, no. Quality possessions = Quality yes.

I'd suggest that Judd's strength, his explosive running is highly diminshed since he has recovered from OP or Groins or whatever was slowing him down in 2007. Also, he had other gun midfielders around him where at Carlton he is carrying the whole side. Only Murphy comes close to Cousins and Kerr of that era.

More possessions equals better football is a totally bogus arguement. Now if you researched effective possessions or showed that Chris Judd is the only midfielder to increase his possessions per game over five years then you might have had a point. Everyone is getting more stats these days, it's just the Bronwlow winning midfielders can actually hit a target by foot or don't send out floaters to put their team mates under the pump.

I'm not saying he isn't a great player but the way the way the media go gaga about him constantly makes him seem greater than he actually is. He is an A grader but not as elite as some think.

No way he should be considered above Hodge, Pendlebury, Bartel, Selwood, Hayes, Pavlich

Here Here, massive fan of that theory, same goes for the Magarey Medal etc etc

BUT

What does Judd have to do to become a great in your mind though?

Kick the ball better, and defend better. The amount of times I've seen players like Jared McVeigh tag Judd and kick 2-4 goals on him is amazing. He still polls votes because he is amazing at winning the ball, but he is, like Murphy at Carlton, unlikely to ever work backwards and help the defence

Any one ever think he is instructed to play this way, alot of teams do it, Have there star be un accountable for there opposition. hopefully hurting them with the amount of ball they win.

He stands out on his own and gets cheap kicks and he let a rookie in his first season of footy towel him up, he has no accountability. Goldsack is far better cant believe hes not playing. As for the people who said Maxwell surely you are joking, the guy is a fantastic defender.

Harry had a great season last year, however, I'm not sure anyone rates him among the elites of the game.

FWIW, I think he is adapting to a slightly different role as there are others taking up more of the sweeping rebound role.

Goldsack has glandular fever and will probably come into contention after our bye.

Campbell Brown. Quite often heralded, but what's he really done? He's an angry ant and a sniper, that's about it.

I really don't like watching Judd play, I find him to be a dirty player who gets away with it but if you touch him he gets a free kick. Tribunal love him as he gets away with eye gauging (never liked him since that dirty act). Can't kick a set shot at goal either.

My opinion is that he stands out for 5 minute periods of quarters where he bursts packs and gets possessions and then goes missing for extended periods. He can have one standout quarter and get 3 votes.

I don't rate him but that's my opinion

But he burns the ball too often and makes a lot of mistakes when the ball hits the ground. Yes he beats his opponents one on one but I cringe everytime we kick the ball to him in general play.
