Whos spot is he going to take? They have plenty of young good defenders.
Maybe he will be a good addition for Williamstown

Trader wrote:Don't get me wrong, I agree the Tambling deal isn't the worst idea for the crows, but what I can't understand is why all these crows fans are coming out saying picks can be hit and miss, but then saying Tambling is going to be a star cause he was a high pick. Why can't he be the miss part of hit and miss? You can't have both sides of the argument.

Not particularly comfortable that we had to give away two picks to get him to be honest. Still happy with the decision to trade for him though. Now we all watch with interest.
One thing is for sure, one side of the arguement will be saying 'I told you so' this time next year.

His best year wasn't this year mate, was probably 2009 when he played more off half-back. And he's been much-maligned by his own supporters due to his lack of work-rate and non-existent ability to win his own contested footy.Dissident wrote:I always fall short talking about who got a "better deal" when it's picks for players.
Who knows?
The Crows give up (effectively) a pick at the start of the second round, and a third round pick (ALWAYS hit and miss). They get a player who was rated extremely high as a junior, taken pick 4 who has a lot of upside and room to move IMO.
I think he's been victim of circumstance - being taken before Buddy, being at a club which hasn't been successful, much maligned by his own supporters, that has to weight somewhat on output and performance.
He's not South Australian and he REQUESTED the Crows as his destination. Sure, he probably wouldn't have had many suitors past a handful - but - he wants to cross the border and get away from Melbourne, Richmond, the media, the supporters and do what he always could do but hasn't yet.
To be honest, we got him at a good time, the best time. Early 20s, had what was probably his best year, just lost McLeod so some run is good. We have traded for worse players that have turned out to be far better players.
Richmond get some picks - and until we see what they get and how they go - who knows who the winner is.
But to be honest, both clubs come out of it well.

If he's more worried about what the supporters think, then he's made the wrong choice by going to a club with over 40,000 members. Unless he pulls his finger out of his ass, the Crows supporters are going to be just as frustrated as we've been for the past six years. It's easy to say the supporters give him a hard time, but generally when a whole club's fan base thinks the same way, it isn't the wrong way.
Good luck to the Crows, they're trying to strengthen what they see as as weakness in their side, but it would want to be a different Tambling to the one we've seen run around in circles for half a decade. I'll happily take two draft picks for him anyday.

Wants to be traded to WA to be closer to son - fair enough.
But no WA club interested, so he's still going to leave but go to Melbourne...
Strange.

I know fans need to be positive ( hey BC? ) about trades but people, please, Tambling has been in and out of the bottom feeding Tigers for 5 years now.
If, and I repeat if, he makes a change for the better and becomes a consitent AFL performer I'll happily eat my words but I am confident I wont have to.
