Interesting article from Leigh Matthews, pretty much sums up my feelings on the subject as well.

Absolutely, especially this bit which is what should have been offered:
OK, put retirees in an open top car, load them up with kids and whoever, and send them off on a lap of honour so the fans can bid them goodbye . And vice-versa.

Russell Holmesby has written in his editorial in Inside Football that when Tyson was was told he was unlikely to get a game that he was still to be included in a 25 man squad in case someone missed through injury his response was to announce his retirement and miss the next training session.

And some of you blokes reckon he didn't spit the dummy.

Well Done Tyson 8)

You've gone out on a high :)

Played your best game for the year :)

And the Fans got their chance to say Farewell to their Champ :)

Thanks for the change of heart ... whether by Craigy or Tyson, it really doesn't matter, cos it paid off 8)

You would think they would use the way they played as inspiration but I'm sure Craigy will stamp out the free running game as it wasn't part of their usual structure. I don't think I saw them kick backwards once yesterday

Lends more weight to the dummy spit theory. If he was still capable of that, he should've swallowed his pride and done that at West Adelaide and forced his way back in for the rest of the year. Perhaps playing in the SANFL is too lowly for him.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

He admitted post match that he had to "dig deep" for that performance and couldn't keep it up for a season.
Perhaps he had not realised how much he was cruising some of the time in most games this year.

The fact we are catching Port and may very well pass them soon is inspiration enough.... ;)
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

I think Adelaide will catch Port & i'm surprised Craig hasn't asked Edwards to finish off the year.
Edwards proved he's still got what it takes to finish off the year in the Crows best 22, infact he's in their top 5 at present.
I would of sent a few or maybe alot packing with their bags before Tyson.

or perhaps he wasn't man enough to cop his being dropped (to WA), & it was beneath him to win his spot back in the side.

Maybe Port should ask a few of its blokes to retire.
You could use some help at the moment.
