Yep, it's funny isn't it? Geelong supporters have spent the past 12 months having a go the the Hawks for winning a Grand Final. If the Cats did "fall over", which they didn't (they were outplayed), then whose fault was that? Maybe they should be having a go at their own players rather than the team who played Grand Final football a little better than they did.

so what is it, hawthorn won because they shouldve or geelong lost it

Hawthorn won because they were easily the best team in the finals. They also had a very good minor round but that is not the point. The best team in September won. What i am saying is that the people who regard Hawthorn as being "Bradbury" premiers surely would prefer their club to do the same rather than lose.

IMO all Buddy is guilty of is being 6 inches taller than Cousins, Brent Harvey or Stephen Milne can confidently bump a player knowing they dont have the height to make contact with the head, anyone near or over 6 foot cant

Thanks god NFL is about to start and we can start seeing some real bumps! 8)

the way i look at it is why didnt franklin just tackle cousins? he could have smashed him just by him being unaware and would have done more damage to benny than just knock him out....at the end of the day it was high, he had a chance to tackle instead knocked him out so the suspension stands. he should have wore the one game he originally got then IF they beat the bombers he would have been playing next week...but thought they would beat it and lost....are hawthorn a one man team that they have to worry so much. they are only playing the 2nd most inconsistant side going,(sorry port adel, you guys are the worst) also dont leave the run to r 22 to get into the finals then there is no probs...the other teams would be loving it  this is just my opinion.....dont care if any one agrees or whateva

It's about more than this one game or finals though. Regardless of who wins tomorrow neither side is any good and won't cause any problems in finals footy. The challenge was about hi-lighting the farce that has become of the laws of the game in the AFL. Hopefully if nothing else comes of this the law is reviewed and sanity will prevail. I'd hate to see any player from any club ever suspended for an incident like this again.

If he tackled him he still would have got him high anyway. He had .4 of a second reaction time to decide.....I wonder what others would have done in that time.

I saw a replay today and in that it looked a bit less entirely accidental than I'd read in descriptions.
But, I concede it may have been the angle it was taken from...

Has anyone tried tackling people front on when they are running at you ?
If you are in a more stationary position and the other player has momentum to tackle = you are likely to come off 2nd best
If you brace yourself and bump, you body is in a more protective stance

Imagine in that split second Buddy had
If he tackled Cousins front on he leaves his chest and ribs open for a collision
Buddy injured ?

Imagine also in that split second Buddy crouched a bit lower[to avoid too high on Cousins] and tackled Cousins front on
Buddy gets accidently hit in the head by Benny who had no time to avoid the tackle
Benny gets reported ?

Imagine also Benny sees Buddy about to tackle him, Benny must try and swivel, dodge or sidestep Buddy and in doing so he turns his body instinctively and hits Buddy in the head with his braced shoulder
Benny gets reported ?

Im with R/ROOSTER on this one, its irrelevant that its a star player playing for a team trying to make a final
It could be a ML playing FREEO in round one
Its the principle

QUESTION for BOONEY
You are constantly defending the process saying its a rule Buddy got pinged and get on with it
My question to you
Do you agree with the rule ?

Got it in one Mal.

For me the most comical moment of this was when Demetriou was asked if the AFL would consider changing the rule. Demetriou said they wouldn't be changing any rules based on one incident.

When it was brought to his attention that they changed the rule in the first place based on the Stuart Maxwell incident, Demetriou had no further comment to make. He'd have to be the highest paid idiot in history wouldn't he?

Yes, and good luck next week ... without Lloyd, Ryder and Atkinson ... filthy mongrels. If Buddy got 2, the mind boggles how many pretty boy diver Lloyd is going to cop.

Essendon in the finals ... hah!! Just shows how poor the competition really is.

Lloyd's doesnt look too flash, running off the back of the square and getting a bloke taken off on a stretcher

Yes, I've been waiting for this. All week I've made the point that the AFL have painted themselves into a corner by suspending Franklin. Now the AFL has to suspend their love child Matthew Lloyd, it has no choice. If the AFL fails to do this, a certain AFL club may have a chat with their lawyers, and things could get very ugly.

Lloyd shouldnt be the only player to be looked at after the game, add Ryder, Atkinson and Bateman

Hawthorn can chat all they like with their lawyers ... isn't going to change a thing, except lighten their wallet.

After all that has happened this week is Mathew Lloyd the dumbest player going around or does he just hate the Hawks.
