That's a reasonable comment REB, although I reckon a reasonable part of the Semi loss was due to ill-discipline from Goodwin, Stevens and of course Rutten. Yes, the third qtr slowdown strategy didn't help much either.

The continual "sports scientist/not a footy coach" spiel by some (and one poster here in particular) is one of the more bizarre (and profoundly ignorant) calls I've ever seen. Craig's footy background and knowledge is clearly extensive (except to the ignorant) and has blended his skills and know how with modern sports science.

No he hasn't delivered a flag.
He's made mistakes, he's been stubborn with his strategies at times.
His side hasn't been able to kill too many sides off after establishing 4-5 goal leads.
However, he has produced a highly competitive team that can give the finals a better shake if they absorb a killer instinct into their mindset.

Keep that up though, and people will start to think that some of us Crows supporters actually know something about footy... ;)

Oh oh, you might just make the Blackbirds go bat5hit with that comment o Caped Crusader!

I agree with him tho, another 12 months of 'Mr Niceguy' and another 5th placed finish. We had the chance to get a decent coach in Laidley and blew it.
What a disraceful effort last night. heads need to roll after that

Taking too much away from Freo guys. They played very good, high pressure footy. The Crows just lacked spark.

Mate, i agree with 100%. Freo were very impressive, didnt allow Adelaide to play well. The Dockers tackled as well as i have ever seen them.
Some Adelaide players looked short of a run - Bock, Vince.

Not panic stations yet. It will interesting to see how Freo measure up though. They play like that, they wont lose too many at home this year.

I'm not trying necessarially shut down the NC bashing here (and related defending) .... but the original post on this tread was a self-admitted rant by NFC because Patrick Dangerfield didn't play a trial game in 2009. The thread has long since stopped being about that particular issue.

Could be shut this thread down and we start up a "NC bash" thread on the main board if we have to have one?

Lets not forget how hard it actually is to win a flag. Does anyone honestly believe that Footscray/Western Bulldogs and St Kilda have not had a decent coach for 50 years? I think Adelaide especially showed how hard it is to win a flag in 2006, when they had a great season derailed with nothing to show for it by one player, all be it a great one in Ben Cousins. Had he not played that prelim 3rd quarter I honestly believe the Crows would have a flag. A lot of things need to go right.

If we lose this week I say Craig should be shown the door. 2 losses to teams expected to be in the bottom 6 to start the season is not acceptable. Our gameplan is flawed and he has lost the respect of the players.

Our gameplan is flawed and he has lost the respect of the players. Keeping those 4 older players was a HUGE mistake, sure they will float around and pick up 20 touches across half back but they arent damaging any more.
We are heading down.

This is getting ridiculous. It's starting to sound like the 'Drop Nathan Hauritz' stuff going on in the Cricket Board. Getting rid of a coach after two rounds would be the worst possible thing the Adelaide Crows could do. The Crows have lost a heap of players to injury, just have a look at how this effect Hawthorn's premiership defence or Fremantle's season last year. I think the loss was more about an improvement in Freo because they had a full list to choose from rather than any shortcomings with the coach.

Get in a new man now, er...who might that be btw? And he either sticks to Craig's gameplan but can't do it as well as Craig or he implements a new gameplan and wastes the recently completed pre-season. Doing this while Goodwin, Burton, McLeod and Edwards are still at the club is Football suicide. The club made the decsion to retain these blokes (I thought Burton should have gone but the other three retained) so the decision to retain the coach is an automatic one....dispite any hysterial overrations to a loss on the road to an improving side.

regards,

REB

Agreed. Saying "we lost the game" shows little or nor respect to the team who won the game.

Luckily Gingernuts and a few others keep this place level headed.

Seriously Tiger were you dropped on your head at birth or do you just like embracing yourself with the dribble that comes out of your mouth.

Who is a better coach that NC currently available?
How is the game plan flawed? we have played with it once(its only round 1, one, uno)
How has he lost the respect of the players? The facts are that NC has got the best out of what can in previous years be described as an 'average' squad.
Didn’t Goodwin lead inside 50s for the crows last year  (not damaging at all)
If we got rid of those 4 older blokes(no respect for our club champions?), results like that would have been more frequent then i can imagine your reaction

My conclusion is YOU have no idea about football and the AFC don’t need or want your stupidity associated with them.

You are an embracement to the club and yourself
